We have seen the vinyl applied to a range of materials. Best case, you want to try to reach the temperatures required to apply the vinyl, however, because a coaster doesn't need to be regularly laundered, you may be able to reduce the temperatures if the material you are applying it to cannot handle the heat. The test cut setting for the Holographic is Category Iron on setting holographic Pressure default. Do a test cut to make sure it is the correct cut setting before cutting the full image. expressionsvinyl.com/machine-settings/

Either of those may be the issue, or not enough pressure. Check the recommended settings for the vinyl used.

Hi, we offset the letters for that small outline. If you are using a Silhouette machine that is what it is called in the system. If you are using a Cricut then you would want to find a font that has a shadow to it.

The top layer will come off in the wash eventually. Sometimes it only takes one wash. It may or may not leave an adhesive residue on the under layer.

I was using the holographic iron on for the first time… I had a problem with the top layer which with the hot pink or fuchsia separating from the silver but only in places. Was that a cutting issue?

We've seen this happen with either a hot peel or a cut setting not deep enough.

real question i heat pressed mine on with the plastic sheet let it cool and took it off and it was smooth and i saw a bunch of people then go over it but with parchment paper on top and when i did it wasnt like as shiney anymore and was embedded into the fabric and took the fabrics patttern what is the correct way to put vinyl on a shirt also how would i do this without having the decal on the shirt rip or crack????? another problem i have on fiols that are holo or just not sports flex

Do you happen to know if the cricut silver sparkle HTV, and the siser sparkle holographic htv look identical? I’m having a hard time getting more of the cricut brand and haven’t used the siser to compare the look. I need them to be super close or identical as it’s for a team but hate to waste $ ordering if they are not.

Both Siser Glitter and Siser Holographic are pressed at 320F degrees. You could press either one first. Since glitter is a warm peel and Holographic is a cold peel, it may be easier to do glitter first, however. Holographic is one of the materials that shouldn't be layered at all. You could always do the knockout method to get the layered look without being layered.

You need to find an image made up of dots, create your own with dots or you can purchase a rhinestone pattern from the Silhouette store. It's the dots that are cut out that end up looking like rhinestones.

The surface of the holographic vinyl does not allow the adhesive to adhere well. When attempted, the vinyl on top of the holographic tends to fall off within a short time.

It really depends on the fabric of the hat. We have made quite a few hats before and as long as the hat can handle the heat, the HTV will work great.

How I Can do a perfect cut

Test cut (we often use a capital R smaller than a half inch) every time. Each machine, blade, and batch of vinyl can vary enough to require a settings adjustment. Sometimes adjusting the force(setting) a few points up or down is all that is needed, other times, adding a 2nd pass works best. Test and repeat until the vinyl weeds easily and does not cut into the backing.

For Siser Holographic, wait 24 hours before first wash, machine wash warm or cold/mild detergent. Dry on normal dryer setting, do not dry clean.

Do you iron the shirt before applying the htv? My shirts after washing and drying shrink some and makes the holographic a little wrinkled. And they are pre shrunk. What could I do to prevent that?

Hi, it sounds like it doesn't have enough pressure. We have see that with the holographic you need a lot of pressure applied to the fabric and vinyl. Then you will want to make sure it is completely cool before removing the cover sheet. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
