if the Janissaries are not a ranged unit they should also have normal H.C. I don't understand why the janissaries aren't just made as a bonus unit like the other races. camel riders, landsknechts, mangudai, mounted archers, genadiers, etc. everyone agrees that the janissaries are not handcannoiers, so the ottomans lack this unit.

Janissary are another unit and that is good, they should not make them like handcannoner but add normal handcannoner to ottoman

@Commander Shepard if they change the tag to be the same as handcannons they will take bonus damage from mangos and horsemen

the only thing bugged about the blacksmith is that the influence bonus starts once construction begins, not when it completes -- the mangonel was reduced from 40s to 30s. you can see that the springald took 30s before and is reduced to 22s. you can also see the "influence" icon (the plus symbol) on the siege workshop once construction begins on the blacksmith.

The vizier point system is VERY similar to the AoE3 card/deck system i noticed.

+40% trade is like 12 villagers worth of population if you have 30 traders (probably should have 20 instead for 8 free population in earning power). Why go for 10% mining for like 2-3 pop and 0 in endgame? Ottomans can have so much pop-free earning power it is insane.

I can't find any explanation on the masteries of the ottomans. The task description for some of them are not clear to me. for example the third one doesn't even have a description? does anybody know where to find it. So i double-checked if the sieg workshop has reduced built time before the blacksmith is finished, and indeed it is reduced. This might happen because u connected the blacksmith aura to an already existing one, so maybe the aura was active from the other blacksmith already that was finished and just got expanded

So even with this, what u call, OP Mehter buff, you ranked the Ottomans as a "C" level Civ. The worst civ in your ranking. So why try to get this nerfed, to make them an even worse civ? This Civ needs more OP buffs to help it, not nerfs.

You say Ottomans are strong, but Otto win rate is only 40%, and you yourself always lose playing Ottomans. You actually said Great Bombard is GOOD? That's why no pros use it ever?

You gotta remember that most people using it on the live servers don't have actual expirience using Ottomans before meaning the winrates are a little but skewed, RBW tournament is way better than ladder to gauge the strength of a civ

If you saw Redbull Wololo Legacy you would see how strong they are. Great bombards are good but they are hard countered by culverins. They likely need a little bonus damage armour.

@@williamschubert4819 I think they are just shit. They do bonus dmg vs infantry but against HRE in a random 2v2 game the HRE opponent just ran past my units with their mass and destroyed my whole siege :D (and yes I had crossbows and knights)

To clarify mangonels don't deal bonus damage to Janissaries because they aren't ranged units, however Janissaries take more damage because the mangonel is a ranged attack. Or is the mangonel attack not classified as ranged?

It's siege, not ranged. There is no armor reduction vs mango damage, so it's not ranged.

Which is funny, because last time i was using them, when my army collided with the enemy army, my Mehters ran past my army and headlong into the enemy army, like some suicidal mosh pit enthusiast. I think they should add a 0 damage, invisible ranged attack to them, that forces them to attempt to maintain range from the enemy or at least stop them from trying to run past their own army.

The constant and free production of units seems to me like it makes Ottomans a really good civ for beginning the game when you often struggle with macro

One bug/feature. Floating military schools don't count to the number of janissaries you get. You can't even activate it in water maps if you have 0 land based schools. I love ottoman castle in water maps as you can harass shores with those grand galleys dropping on units non stop
