This is the first time I've seen this way of unwinding the soft release, cool! What is your opinion on using a munter hitch on the tail of the webbing, in order to act as a back up, while unwinding the soft release (in cases where the soft release is too short)?
@treenetweaves Жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea 😊 Just remember, that tail will go through eventually with a short SR. For anything big > 300m or freestyle I’d use a long SR

Great video as usual. What's your opinion on backing it up with a frost knot to a carabineer instead of any of those mule wraps?
@treenetweaves Жыл бұрын
Thank you! That’s a bad idea. It’s not necessarily unsafe, however, if it slips your frost knot will load and it will be really difficult to undo your SR afterward. I recommend doing both the mules and then using a carabiner to clip it off :)

Thanks Alonso! What's your view on using soft shackles with a soft release? I've heard diverging views . It avoids the risk of the shackle pin spinning which as you say is very scary.

I’m typically anti soft shackles but then again none of my SS are sheathed. I do break my rule for alpine lines with long approaches though

Can you do a video how to de-tension efficiently without a soft release?
@treenetweaves Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! That’s a great idea 😊 It’s on my list 🙌🏼

Yes, and how are the festival rigging without a soft release? Great stuff Alonso.
