I just got a Buddy Rider in the mail and am about to attach it to my seat post. Has the clamp damaged your seat post at all? I hesitate to tighten it down out of fear that it will either compress the seat post or scratch it up.

4:15 - is this bar detachable from the dog seat? or is it welded on. Looks welded

Does the buddy rider effect your riding position? Do you have to splay your legs a bit to accomodate it being in the middle? Or do your legs hit it as you pedal please?

Yes, that is the biggest flaw of the mounting design. If you love riding, you will not be able to dial in your correct seat height. The mounting bar being in the way means you'll have to jump off, which can be dangerous. Mounted too low, your knees will contact the buddy seat. Better way would be for the seat to be mounted to the bike frame, and high enough to clear the knees. THEN, you can go long proper long rides!
