Not true. That has been changed. It's usually a pit with a chest, with a levitating item later on in the floor.

47:00 potion of strengths and scroll of upgrades will never be generated in a hidden room. (rooms not connected with any other room with hidden doorway) Though it's possible that it's behind locked/guarded rooms (inside treasure chest with piranha/traps/with wooden blockade/surrounded by pit/etc)

I finished the game yesterday after 2 weeks of nerding 10 hours a day (while totally ignoring the fact that I needed to study because otherwise I won't finish university) and I wanted to do it with no help from YT tutorial, now that I did it I can learn everything I did wrong. I had never considered using a chilling trap for the magical fire rooms! you really do learn something new everyday with this game. like, now I tend to test new potions beside water but not in it, because I think you might freeze if you're in water & open a potion of frost, your potions might shatter. & also, open your potions outside of toxic gas rooms. I had to die to learn this lesson, you can get paralytic gas, I was gone instantly. last tip, you can splash yourself with inert potions if you need to extinguish yourself. purity also works, but you can splash it or drink it. & dk if it was a fluke, but I think I managed to suffocate a fire with toxic gas once.

On this seed: WLJ-HZP-JFG on phone version, the first alchemy room on level 2 don't have a potion of strength. The potion of strength is found on level 1.

I'm an experienced player myself, but watching other people play is always fun because everyone treats situations differently. because there are so many different tricks & uses for items & environments, if you watch someone long enough you will almost always pick up on something new, or a different way to do something, which each player has picked up, just doing something a tiny bit differently. a successful game of pixel dungeon is made up of hundreds of tiny correct choices, I say. these are the small things I would have done differently: wells of health are very precious in my eyes. they can potentially cleanse five equipment (that is, if you've managed to recklessly equip a curse weapon, armour, & three rings/artifacts. now that I think about it, six is possible if you're using the champion). if I find one, I'll equip all of the unidentified things that I fancy using, to effectively identify all of the equipment up until I run into something that's cursed & if none of my unsure items are cursed I'll equip something definitely cursed, the one that I fancy the most, because you can only cleanse one weapon each well. I favour items from sacrifical fires though, because I find they tend to be upgraded a little more often than ground items. you already knew that, but I consider it worth running up a few floors, especially if you're already cursed or starving & have the health to make the trip back. the way I test unidentified but safe weaponry is trying to get a surprise attack. this wouldn't work for flails I guess, but it's pretty quick. though you probably have figured that one out, I think I learned it from a more recent video of yours. I appreciate the inclusion of the trick of circling around grass to get infinite surprise attacks, but I personally would trample the grass before I leave the room. & I think you missed s few opportunities for surprise attacks, like, you could have carefully led a snake around some grass by making sure it keeps close. lastly, it's a small thing, but I appreciate you being inclusive of nonbinary gnolls. it's cheesy, but making a little effort to correct the automatic default assumption of the gnoll scout being a man was appreciated. it makes me happy.

good tips thanks! I love finding a well of health in the sewers for that exact reason. So if the unidentified weapon can't surprise attack that means that you don't have the required strength? I actually haven't taken advantage of that mechanic. It's funny with fictional things like gnolls as well, I mean, I don't know their biology either.

Also the only effects that can break potions are explosions and Freezing, but fire doesn't do anything.(reading the desprictions for the bag extensions for the potions tells you it protects potions from the cold and the one for the scrolls says it protects from fire)

When you tested your quarterstaff to check if it was 11 strength at 52:09, we saw the time circle make more than 1 turn when you hit with it. Was that an indication that it wasn't upgraded already?

good idea :) if you have a handful of healing potions left and strong equipment I'd say go for it, just remember to kill a few monsters each floor to keep the curse down.

Remember, when i like year ago haven't know about filling water skin, so i leaved it and on late floors I'm almost died, so i had to run through like 10 floors just to get full health and not die

Yeah the monks get that focus ability which parries your next attack. If you examine them you can see if they have the "focus" buff up. If you can, use a weak range weapon to clear the focus before they get in melee range, then hit them with your stronger weapon. The ghouls are annoying aren't they, try to avoid groups larger than 2, if you end up with 4 or more try and run away to separate them.

Both times i couldve ran, spend a moment to recoup n let items recharge etc etc... also need to use my upgrade scrolls better. guess its what i get for playing dead tired lol

Not sure how I learned what to do in this game, atleast the original version and shattered. I remember playing when I was like 7 and just kept dying on the first level or so. I didn’t even search anything up, unlike how I am today, always a wikireader.

In my opinion that's absolutely correct! On a usual run for me I get to level 28, use two exp potions to 30 then drink the elixir of might, usually right before yog and ascension.
