THIS is service! Not shoving the best stuff up your customers a** for a ton of money, but explaining what you get and letting the customer decide what he/she wants! This is a real decency!

come on man, any business who wants to stay in business will educate their customer (the sales pitch) and then give them options to let them decide which to go with (this is the closing question of the sale). Dont mean to be busting this particular company's balls but since it fooled you into trying to fool other people then you must know that the pitch did infact try and push the best product onto the consumer by using the 'cheap chinese' term and by telling them that if they care about their car then they should get the product and by the way they the company doesnt offer the cheap chinese brand because well its cheap. like most youtube vids sponsored by a company, this video is nothing more than an SEO tactic to to drive traffic to their website by tricking the google search bot algorithm and get their site listed on the first page of the consumer's search results. if you were not hip to this SEO marketing ploy, you are now. power to we the people!

Been a detailer for many years and I like the honesty this guy shares with everyone. There will always be the next latest and greatest car care product, some better than others but none the less. On average most people keep their cars for quite a while, if in fact the car lasts past the warranty. In a typical situation waxing a car will protect it just as well as any other coating. But the way you care for your vehicles paint makes a huge difference, especially before and during the cleaning process and even during the waxing process. I can't count how many times a customer has used a dirty cloth, sponge or mitt to wash their car and a cloth or sponge to wax their vehicle. Some people even use really harsh chemicals to clean their vehicle, which can harm clearcoats and paints. I know paints and clearcoats have come a long way over the years, but protecting both are still essential to their life. Advice? Listen to the honest pro's like this guy, but remember you can keep your vehicle looking best if you use a little common sense.

25/6 22, Did l understand you correctly ? Waxing your car will provide the same finish as the latest products ? I have a shelf full of big brand cleaning, finishing , bodywork protection, & waxes accumulated down the years & use them 2 or 3 times annually to enhance & protect my cars. You're saying, l think, l can't improve things by updating & using the latest products. Pleasing news - l won't have to dispose of them because no great benefit's gained by spending on the latest products which in turn will be superceded too. Time saving seems the only improvement.

I am wayyyy too OCD to use a ceramic coating on my vehicles. I can't imagine not being able to polish my paint for 3 years. If I get a swirl, water spot, bird bomb stain, light scuff, etc. I want to correct it quickly and cheaply. I like being able to polish out any small area easily without having to strip and re-coat the entire panel. Many modern sealants have improved, and are super-durable. I have no problem re-applying them 2 or 3 times per year. It is therapeutic for me, and only takes just a little time. In my opinion (and that of a Rupes salesman I heard), ceramic coatings are best for the daily driver that actually might have scratches and dings on it. The one that you will never polish. The one that will only see washes in the time you own it. Great video, as always, guys!

I’m in agreement with my fellow waxers. Ceramic coatings are designed for the lazy old fart who barely drives his low mileage Corvette (insert Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc) and needs a strong protectant that will last for a while. I’m more of a polish my daily beater 2-3 times a year kinda guy. I use the lightest polish compound because there’s literally nothing to even polish out but I do it anyway just to chase down that random scratch. There’s nothing like a freshly waxed car. Why anyone would prolong this pleasure for several years is beyond me. Lol. Real car guys polish more often then once every 2-3 years. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was a detailer from 1974-1998. I felt that there was no substitute for a coat of plain old car wax. Labor intensive it was, but it seemed to work and if you did it yourself, it was inexpensive. Granted I realize that times have changed, but my 16 year old Hyundai Sonata looks quite close to new. It has been garaged since new and even the headlamps look like new. I remember back in the 70’s the used car lot that I worked for bought a 1974 that had something applied like I have never seen. We had the car on the lot for four months or so, but I never before or since saw a car bead water like this one did. I never found out what had been applied to this car, but for it’s time, it was something else.

@@danlc95 I agree with the Collinite, but I've used the 885 Marine and aeronautic paste wax. A half full tub came with a 30' used boat I bought about 30 years ago. After cleaning the hull, I put on a coat of the wax. It goes on super easy, you just wax about a square yard and immediately wipe off. So it took me about 3 hrs. to do the whole boat. After 7 months in the water and 5 months outside at the boat yard, it was still beading water. I started using it on my car, and it works just as well there. It costs about $20. for a tub that lasts me about 10 years for both car and boat. Great stuff.

I use a garden blower or something even more powerful to dry the car, get under all the moldings, in the grill, the wheels, open the doors and hood and trunk and get in those areas. By the time I'm done all I need are a couple of very small towels to tidy up. Much less work , touch-free, and less laundering. I also like to hold the hose in one hand and sponge in the other , constantly flooding the area so I'm not rubbing any dirt particles around.

There's 3 BIG issues with aggressive coatings such as ceramics. 1. Although they do help provide a stronger layer of clear coat protection for perhaps "years", vehicles that are used as Daily Driving will be exposed to all the outside elements and road conditions. It's inevitable that the coating will soon become scratched( light swirl marks/ spyder webbing etc etc). When this occurs, the best way to remove those defects is by buffing it out. It's important to know, buffing(compounding)will remove said coating. It's not worth anyone's time and money using aggressive coatings on fault operated vehicles, I'd say coatings are beneficial for vehicles used as props in showrooms or in museums. 2. Cost. These coatings are expensive. It's great that some have "deeper pockets" than others, capitalism and constitution are beautiful things. Never the less, ceramic coatings are items that aren't practical for everyday drivers. The application service for these types of coatings could range anywhere from $100's to pressure even $1,000s.. Yes Thousands of dollars( depending on which service provider/product/location and type of vehicle). 3. Health Hazard. There's many cases of lung failure/collapse which were reported due to ceramic coating dust particles in the air when inhaled. When buffing a vehicle that was previously treated with ceramic coating, will cause the ceramic dust particles releasing into the air which is very dangerous. High quality masks are required when correcting and or when applying ceramic coatings. During this current pandemic, 3M- M95 and other higher quality masks are rare to obtain ( if you're even able to obtain them via Government regulations) and if you're part of the lucky few to obtain M95 masks......they're very expensive. Perhaps just as valuable as currency. Logically speaking, essential professionals such as Surgeons, Doctors and Nurses need these masks more than say....an auto detailer. It was a great idea to have created aggressive longer lasting ceramic coatings but they just aren't necessary and practical for vehicles that use used for daily driving. They're costly, hazardous and impractical. A safer alternative would be to use a kind of a spray sealant, Turtle Wax Ceramic Hybrid spray is an excellent choice. It's inexpensive (around $7- $10 per bottle), its efficient in the sense that it's a "Spray on and wipe off " application and it provides long lasting protection with a high gloss. When exterior correction ( buffing/detailing) is necessary, removing the spray coating isn't much of a loss considering they're less hazardous and they're inexpensive. A win win situation

I coated my F150 myself within 30 days of it being delivered to the dealer. Even being brand new it still required a good paint correction. I also did PPE on the front, and wow what a PITA that is, especially on the bumper. It was worth the effort though, 26 months, 49,000 miles, 2 winters, and it still looks great. A good detailer is worth the cost, especially if doing PPE.

As I live in a regional town in Australia I am limited with the number of detailers. One fellow suggested a ceramic coating. I had XPEL ceramic coating professionally applied to my previous Model 3 and I had less than desirable results, especially with the glass. Ironically, what was supposed to protect my vehicle and make it more hydrophobic ended up resulting in hard water spots all over the front, top, and rear glass. The only way I was able to remove them was with glass buffing compound and a buffer. That said, it did work well with the painted body and the rims. Fast forward to today and I took delivery of my Model 3 Performance: instead of ceramic coating, I only went with PPF. I bought some DIY ceramic coating to apply to my wheels only (maybe I'll do the PPF too- not sure at this point- will see how the wheels look after a month.)

Congrats on the Model 3! Hope it's treating you well. PPF can be a pain to remove if left on for too many years. I was trying to decide if I wanted PPF on my car and found out that the areas that dont have PPF will have more UV damage and in some cases that means the paint will look like a different shade and need removal and repainting anyway. I'm on the fence if I want to do it or not.
@victoryensured7137

@@jeffgendron1959 From my experience it depends on how long you're gonna own the car, if for a longer time, PPF needs to be maintained too, removed, then applied again, witch as we all know is not cheap, if left on a car for too long it will stain too (even the best ppfs i've seen also scratch and need to be repaired, even the ,,self repairing" ones), but it is a better mechanilcal protection against paint chips, iv'e had it on my old cars, on the new one i decided to go without it, i like to work on my car, polish it, wax it or apply ceramic, and the ,,feel" of the paint under my fingers without ppf is a 1000% better, but thats my weekend car so it's pampered a lot :)

@@chadrenstrom5483 So I ended up just buying “Turtle wax Ice Seal N Shine” after seeing some pretty popular KZbinrs endorse it, and seeing many good reviews. 7,000+ on Amazon. And I’ll be honest I’ve only applied it to a friends hood, and I haven’t seen the car after that so I’m not sure how it’s holding up / if it’s hydrophobic. I’m gonna apply it to my car very soon, just haven’t gotten around to it. I might do it this weekend. I’ll for sure let you know how it ends up going / looking, after it’s cured. The reviews were amazing, and it’s pretty cheap. I’m sure it’s not going to give me the ultimate protection, but we shall see. It’s supposed to protect the paint chemically, and from the sun, and it’s “ultra hydrophobic” (or something like that is said on the bottle). And it smells so dang good. And it’s easy to apply. Just spray it, and wipe it on, after you’ve prepped the paint.

As an owner of a 1959 MGA, that I restored back in the early 90s, keeping the paint in good condition means being scrupulous in how you clean and protect it. As long as you can dedicate the time and energy to do things right when cleaning, you can certainly protect with a good quality wax. Nobody really needs a ceramic coating to keep the paint in excellent condition. But if you are not willing to spend the time, energy, and proper cleaning techniques and just want a good finish for no output other than the cost of the finish, then by all means, get a ceramic coating. The paint on my MGA still looks great after all these years but it is not a show car, and sometimes during the summer gets driven daily for weeks. It has its share of defects but the shine on it is still mirror-like and I spend time once a month or more from Spring through the Fall keeping it looking nice.

So, after listening to numerous channels on detailing my Jeep Grand Cherokee and why I should put a ceramic coat on it, I bought the recommended products to do my own work. However, I was still hesitant to begin a process on my Jeep that I had only been schooled by youtube videos. I decided that come spring I would take on the job and to refresh my memory I delved into youtube videos once again and ended up here. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I want to attempt the process of adding a ceramic coating. @@Brian-dj3ru but if you're washing your car "every week" as the guy in the video suggested, just using a wash & wax and taking the time to do a really good wax every season will work fine. Just like noone denies a military helmet is more protective than a hard hat, but we're not asking construction workers to gear up like they're fighting in 'nam are we? I'm not contradicting you, I'm simply saying look at the bigger picture: someone who really cares about their care will keep a wash and wax schedule good enough to not need a ceramic coat.

The first thing I say to people who ask about coatings is do you know how to wash a car properly in order to maintain the coating ? If you take your car to the local car wash or don't wash the car properly then it's just throwing money down the toilet. Coatings are great but are very over hyped and people seem to think thier paint will stop a .50 cal bullet.
