you said that your E coldown doesnt start ticking until you use your E2 but thats not the case, it starts ticking as soon as you use your first E. Also a nice little thing with ult that have dashes (like malphite, ahri etc) is that you can cancel your first E with a "dash ult" and that will allow you to use your Q mid air of the ult, this is specially usefull when going the elec build and having an ult with dash and cc since it will allow you to 100 to 0 and ensure you hit your Q2. Other than that fantastic video as always keep it up!

I am a newbie and I am deeply inspired by how faker won the worlds so I played league. He used sylas so well and I ended up wanting to main that champ, your video halped a lot bro, thank you. My first game with sylas was good. I had 12/9/15 kda my first game but got rated c+ unfortunately because I kept on dying but I took first blood for the very first time in my life, my midlane opponent told me to chill because I was fighting everybody with no fear, I think it is because of the fundamentals you taught that I know what I can or not do. Although I kept on dying because I don't know whose ult I should copy and I don't really know any ults of other champs. I am level 21. Your video is so well made it made me think sylas is an easy champ to learn but my friends did not recommended learning sylas as my main while I am new.

I'm of the opinion that onetricking is the best way to learn the game. If you enjoy playing sylas as a newer player, then absolutely stick to it and you'll find success same as any other champ!

Great video, I am role swapping from jungle to midlane (used to be d4 jg graves) to teamplay with friends. I have tried a couple games of sylas so far and it's been fun but also kinda run downey, I am starting to win lane most of my games but I have a hard time roaming and entering teamfights and whatnot. yeh I still go electrocute rocketbelt lichbane most games, unless you are solo frontline/engage for your team and there's a lot of melees on enemy - in that case you can do the rocketbelt into cosmic drive/riftmaker variation with conqueror The biggest difference is you should go Ionian Boots of Lucidity over magic pen shoes after the recent nerfs. Pretty much every game, unless you absolutely need merc treads to survive against double ap mid jg.

I think if you run conqueror you can go rocketbelt cosmic drive, with electrocute always go rocketbelt lichbane. I personally just go rocketbelt lichbane every game still.

Also some knowledge that I didn't see you mention or I missed is that in early game when W cd is too long to us twice in a trade and you have conqueror, it can be way better to not use it first but keep it for the end of the trade when you have stacked 12 conqueror stacks and you are low health you will literally regen half of your hp bar at level 3-4 it's crazy good

no because once stacked (and it stacks very quickly) manaflow will give you flat mana + bonus regen even if your opponent refuses to interact with you, letting you get more roam timers before you go OOM and have to base with presence of mind you actually have to hit them to get any value, so it doesn't really help in lanes where you should be winning and the enemy understands the matchup

yeah thanks for the feedback, you're definitely right its better to show the whole clip first. watching back there's also an audio delay whenever I pause the clips, I recorded it as an "mkv" video source instead of a "media" source in obs and it causes some sort of audio input lag. Idk why, but I've learned for future videos. It's really unpleasant to hear the sound still after the frames stop.

When Sylas was a viable jungle, it helped me get Master and was by far my best AP option, but then riot changed the meta and the champ struggled a lot to play as jungler

Yep i played sylas jungle so much as well but he just feels so terrible right now... its really sad. They need to improve his Q dmg to monsters modifier to compensate for the ap ratio nerfs, so his clear isn't so slow. Literally can't keep up with the speed of any normal jungle champ in the state he currently is.

Im using Conqueror very rarely, in almost every game there are Ranged Supports (EUW Diamond :D) and Its just the best rune for lane because of Sylas very strong level 1 trade pattern, if you combine that with Bone Plating + Ignite you can almost always flip a matchup compeltly around in your favor at level1/2 and most players do not know how to punish someone with TP advantage at this level

If you do W > E max then getting a second "mana" rune is not a waste, your W mana cost is insane at higher ranks and it just means that you can afford to use W on the wave to clear it faster and roam right away instead of waiting around autoing it. But the main reason you take the sorcery page second is transcendence, not manaflow. Ability haste is the stat you care about most with W>E max build.

Shift your mentality away from being individualistic to more of an initiator role. If you look at 1:07:10 in the video, you have two choices of what to do after pushing your sidewave. Try to solokill your laner by walking the first path through krugs OR move straight away towards enemy red/raptors to group up with your team. You'll know a paradigm shift has occurred when your default response becomes the latter. Whenever you get free time you should use it to move your pressure towards your team.

You also need to wait for the first volley of minion fire to be in the air before you do it. Its possible u are trying to do it too early. sounds like a lot of fun but high elo games are a tight-knit community and everyone knows each other. If I try this in my games I'll get black listed and ran down by some unhappy gamers :( but the real issue with builds like that is you go through huge power troughs on components (for example riftmaker has no synergy with zeal so you are just a useless champ at that spike until navori, riftmaker navori IE you cant kill anyone without penetration etc.)the massive volatility in usefulness at various stages of the game is why I'd avoid building like that.

I have been playing sylas a lot after the mini re-adjustments and personally, protobelt just isnt for me, it feels like i dont deal damage at all compared to straight lichbane rush with pen boots. (I loved the old sylas a lot more and that might be why) i just think having health in sylas for first item feels really bad with electrocute, and conqueuer just doesnt give me that oomph

yeh i agree the old sylas with higher ap ratios lichbane electrocute rush felt way more fun, but the reality is - all ap ratios are nerfed and the most optimal build currently is just buying ap+hp items which have high gold efficiency hoping that will change next patch though, the lichbane adjustment looks good for sylas in comparison to some of the other ap item nerfs so we might see lichbane rush come back into the meta again

I was also initially under the assumption protobelt would be the best first item and kinda got stuck with it even though it wasnt performing for my playstyle. I think with the buffs to stormsurge and shadowflame it is viable to still go for lichbane stormsurge/shadowflame. I just hit masters this seaon playing this playstyle with a 75%wr throughout 28 games. I wouldnt say it is the best but forsure it is worth trying

Can you write a guide on how to get out of Iron on OCE? I feel really stuck. I win 4 out of 5 promotion games, get placed in Iron 3, and then, like a switch, my LP gains drop from 34 per win to 24, while I lose 28 LP per loss. Instead of getting evenly matched games, I seem to end up on the worse side every time. When I play Support, I usually win the bot lane, and if we have a good jungler, we win. But with a bad jungler, we lose every time. When I play Jungle, it’s like my whole team needs babysitting in their lanes to prevent them from feeding, which causes me to fall behind on farm. I can't be everywhere at once, so even if I get six grab kills and secure the 2nd and 3rd dragons, my team still just keeps feeding nonstop. I'm at a loss. I love League; it’s my favorite game, but right now, it feels like there’s no reward in playing.

Played a LeBlanc twice while maining Sylas, I never allow her to pass ban phase. The damage and mobility is just nuts. Sure, late game it all evens out but man the laning phase is just impossible

Yeah that matchup is very challenging but the trick is to take her E with your ult, that will reveal her and bind her even when she goes into passive. Laning phase is an absolute nightmare though.

yeah really good question, I've actually experimented with both of those items a lot. I'd say that unending despair and spirit visage are in their current state just overpowered items and need a nerf, but they aren't actually that "efficient" for sylas to use (only your w spells has a bonus hp scaling ratio and the items are tuned around champs who have multiple hp ratios like tanks) my take is, if you want to play the tank sylas build you can... I've had the most success with this variation: rocketbelt > cd boots > cosmic drive > unending despair > spirit visage > riftmaker/jak'sho it works really well if your goal is to play an initiator role, your E is basically up infinitely and there's a lot of deceptive healing. The clear downsides are that you will have 0 ap and 0 magic pen so if the enemy adc or mage mid builds any magic resist you essentially have zero threat on the backline and become a glorified support in fights rather than an actual carry.

nah I dont think so, if you run dshield you literally do no damage and go oom way faster without building a mana item. If you run dshield you MUST max Q for waveclear or you will consistently go oom. To me the Q max playstyle just feels inferior so I don't like going that route and if you go W max then dshield just isnt an option.

Its pretty neeko favoured in the same way aurora is - you cant reliably land your chain if neeko has her clone available. The ult is really good to use so if you can survive lane, teamfights will be easy. Definitely a "strong" ranged matchup in my books

grasp definitely seems good on sylas but magic resist is too op, the problem with playing him top is that once enemy top gets 1 MR item of any kind you just do no damage. Maw / hollow radiance / abyssal mask are just way too broken

yeh just go practice tool and press e click backwards instantly practice that if u do the chain diagonally then visually it will look even slightly longer low ground/high ground hitboxes being whack is another way to get those crazy long hitbox clips too

Its similar to the idea that the jungler who counterganks will always be at an advantage because the initial ganker is optimizing his ability usage purely focused on the situation being a 1v2 and not a 2v2. So by coming later into the fight you see the full picture, know which cooldowns are/aren't down and use your spells accordingly to have the highest impact. In this fight everyone is full HP so if I commit to the pit and try to focus skarner in the 2v3, the most likely outcome is he flashes away on low hp. Then all 3 of our champs will be on full cooldown and asol+akali are right there ready to fight with 0 tools left to deal with them. We have nowhere to run except to go into the back of the pit because they are controlling both sides of the objective so there's a chance we lose if I do that. Whereas if I just take a free chunk on asol or force him further away from the play, I can still go and contribute to the 2v3 later because im closer to grubs but it leaves him with no opportunity to have any impact. tl;dr you are right, whoever moves from their lane first will generally win the fight if they can quickly come in and one-shot a champion with the numbers advantage... not much has changed at all, if you do the lichbane route you basically have the same amount of AP as pre ap item nerfs (70>60 rocketbelt 110>115 lichbane, -5 ap difference total). The waveclear is exactly the same. Only nerf to sylas was the hp growth which is completely meaningless If you are running oom its because you are using W to clear the wave. Use E, Q only and if you have low AP then wait for 2nd E rotation to finish the wave. Thats why you use E at the start to put it off cooldown faster. Don't use W it costs too much mana. Make sure ur passive hits all 6 creeps by standing between melee and ranged minions.

because pros are playing worlds on patch 14.18 and practicing the same builds for the sake of competing, they are just used to it cosmic drive was nerfed way more than lichbane in 14.19 and live patch is already14.21. Its good to buy cosmic drive 2nd item if you are running the frontline/engage conqueror page against multiple melee champs if u are electrocute then always go lichbane 2nd item for burst damage, cosmic is useless with that setup

I just got my ass kicked in mid game vs a tank veigar, went out of lane 4/1 and up in cs, but after he had ROA + tear tank item I legit couldnt do anything. They had 4 ranged and I went electrocute, should I have gone with conqueror, did I play horribly wrong the matchup? Ty so much

@@ninkat5441 I think the onus is on you to make something happen early. especially level 2, you need to force trades on him with Q,E and make him choose between levelling cage lvl 2 (which reduces his ability to cs with w from afar). Ur chains are about half his cage cooldown, so you will go in lvl 2 he will use cage and disengage, then you have a full 10 seconds with your second rotation being up to try again Mercs are a pretty gold inefficient item now so I wouldn't build it unless there was a lot of value on top of veigar cage (leona + varus for example) Once veigar gets to 2 items u cant really kill him and he will 1shot you regardless of whether you itemize magic resist, u also cant buffer his cage with your E2 because it will stun you halfway and stop your movement. The only counterplay is to use your E>W> Protobelt combo to try and get past his cage while he puts it up, or get your full damage rotation off, then he cages, and you just run around in it trying to dodge some skillshots. TL;dr snowball early or lose (ignore him later just try to kill his teammates, u cant do anything to him)

@@ninkat5441 yeah your scaling pretty much depends on the ultis you can take. if there's an alistar, kayle, ashe etc in the game then you can "outscale" by stealing the right ults lategame. If u have good ults then dont feel pressured to make progress happen early, you can wait for teamfights

the main issue is that at your 1 item spike all you get is 50 ap and no ability haste, so even though you have the mana pool, your w/e cooldowns are too long In order to actually kill tanks on sylas top you need liandries... but if you go rod > liandries then you have 0 ability haste and thats not great either you can try liandries rush into fimblewinter, unending despair, spirit visage, riftmaker.

yeh riftmaker is still good, its just on 14.22 your hp growth went down so that slightly nerfs riftmaker + they removed some hp from rocketbelt + they removed 2% extra damage from riftmaker. If you want to rate each item by individual strength then its: rocketbelt>>lichbane>>cosmic drive>>riftmaker in that order So if you can only fit 3 out of the 4 items in your build then I'd skip riftmaker and get the rest. You always have to buy a void staff, deathcap and zhonyas at some point. with the conqueror build I would recommend going rocketbelt > cosmic drive > zhonyas or rocketbelt > lichbane > zhonyas electrocute go rocketbelt > lichbane > deathcap/zhonyas Riftmaker last item is a good choice instead of boots

oops yeah good eye I think he can really fit in either category, if galio goes electrocute full dmg build its extremely easy. If he goes aftershock tank build then you lose pretty hard early but tank galio falls off hard after 2 items. Its a bit of a skill matchup imo.

hey! max w > e, use your Q to proc his shield before you go for any trades. when you dash forward use E>W and then hold your chain, dont use E2, you need to walk behind him and try to dodge his Q first then reactivate chains. If you land all your spells in this matchup you should always win. Avoid missing chains on voidlings and trading when his shield is up.

glad to hear you profited some lp from it yeh if you struggle with mana you can run manaflow transcendence secondary you can also put 2 or 3 points in q which I personally dont like doing because it changes your trade patterns (q2 becomes integral to land for damage instead of just using it later to chase). Putting points in q increases your waveclear and does not change the manacost. If u stick to my builds and runes then the solution is just: 1) trying to make your passive hit all the minions at once 2) avoid using W if you are maxing it, costs too much mana 3) if you have some AP already then clear the wave by pressing Q on all 6 creeps (wait for it to line up properly, chain hits front 3, chain + explosion hits back 3) then E in the middle of the wave and get double passive. Continue to auto attack the rest, save ur w or use it if you will take a lot of damage. Its always better to clear the wave by doing E1 E2 > Q > auto (wait for cds) > E1 E2. Use E first so it comes off cooldown higher) 2nd rotation of your E will cost less mana than 1 use of W so its better to wait for E cd and use that to finish off the wave a little slower but conserve your mana.
