How to Reroot Doll Hair (For Beginners)

Here is my beginner friendly tutorial on how to reroot doll hair! I've done many rerooting doll makeover videos on my channel and it really is a lot of fun! There are so many different colors and rooting patterns you can choose from to customize your doll's hair into something new. Rerooting Materials:
Hair elastics, scissors, needle nose pliers, acrylic paint, paintbrush, spray bottle with water, rerooting tool, needles, comb, hair to reroot with, glue.
Optional Materials:
Hairdryer, super glue, liquid fusion, towel, iron, hot water/mug.

side notes about my doll:
My doll's head was super squishy while I was rerooting lol random fact. Also, I did say I wanted her to have middle-length hair, but it turned out slightly longer than I expected. yes, I could have cut it, but I'm a sucker for long doll hair and I think it turned out to be a good length lol! thanks for watching!

Can't thank you enough for this video. Because you made it look so easy and fun and not intimidating, I went and bought some hair and supplies for my old Midge. I successfully rerooted her and she looks great. One tip for beginners like me: If the needle keeps sliding back into the tool, it might not be tightened enough in the tool. Use a wrench to tighten it in place so the needle is firm in place and doesnt slip.

Tip for Doll Crafters: Sometimes doll rerooting or any craft you doing can be boring at times. So what I suggest is to do go to KZbin to listen to music or watch one of favorite videos to make it more fun. That's what I like to do if it's something is boring. Just a recommendation. :)

Rerooting is so much fun. Another thing i would recommend for a casm in the dolls head is sewing it shut if the hole is huge.

Super! I remember in my teens when I didn't have any tools or supplies I used to take a thread, make a knot at one end and pull a thread through the hole. So I have 3 or 4 dolls with thread hair.) Now thanks to your video I know how to really restore them!

Thank you for the video and all the advices ! For the holes in the scalp, DollPlanetHair advices to put two minutes the head in boiling water. I tested it, and it works !! The holes are shrinking !😉 It avoids using some dangerous glue !

tip: if you’re buying dolls like monster high, see if your local thrift store has them. They go for hundreds of dollars now!

Only the first wave and Comic Con exclusives goes for over a hundred and thats if theyre in box and pristine condition. If theyre used at a thrift store they won' be worth that much, maybe 30 bucks at most if theyre in good condition with no glue seepage in the hair.

Hi I don't know if you'll see this comment, but was the water spray to keep the hair together? I'm literally in the beginning of my first reroot and when I took out the hair from the tie it went EVERYWHERE. No one talks about how to help keep it together so you're not wasting hair and it would be nicer especially for beginners if you did more than a quick shot of spraying and moving on without mentioning it.

You have to keep spraying it with water slightly( which was too much work for me when I used doll planet nylon hair) I resorted to using only saran hair. They are waaaaay much easier to work with. But I'll advise not to use pressing iron on saran hair. I deep it in hot water for about 5seconds to set the hair when I'm done rerooting. *Do not use boiling water for saran hair!!!

I have also problems with rerooting. Sometimes the needle just won't go in the head or the needle is slipping inside the rerooting tool. I used the tool from Dollyhair and don't know what I am doing wrong.
