It is a great song. The lyrics are not repetitive, and the song moves beautifully.

Gwen is a goddess, the band is super tight, we all know it, but let’s pause for a moment and give some appreciation to Tony Kanal, one of the best bass players in the history of pop music, he’s flawless and impressive. Love this guy!

Watch her sing the bridge at 2:22! The emotions on her face, on her lips and in her eyes are palpable. Especially from 2:26-2:29. You can see she gets lost in and is truly feeling the weight of the lyrics. You can see the hurt when she curls the left side of her mouth while singing "mistake." The dichotomy between the vulnerability of the emotions she's displaying and the punk rock persona (sweat, died hair, black eye-liner and bold lipstick) is truly mesmerizing. They are fleeting but so powerful and moments like these are why you watch music live.

I’m 28, so I wasn’t “there” for much of the ‘90s, but one band I clearly remember hearing was No Doubt. They are the music that takes me back to a time that I can’t otherwise remember. Anyway, this is my favorite song. From the bass riffs to the flute (?), to Gwen crooning “Ooh I always was the one with all the love.” Sonic umami.

For a long time I was in love Not only in love, I was obsessed With a friendship that no one else could touch It didn't work out, I'm covered in shells And all I wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life And all I needed was a simple man So I could be the wife I'm so ashamed, I've been so mean I don't know how it got to this point Oh, I always was the one with all love You came along, I'm hunting you down Like a sick domestic abuser Looking for a fight And all I wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life If we met tomorrow for the very first time Would it start all over again? Would I try to make you mine? I always thought, I'd be a mom Sometimes I wish for a mistake The longer that I wait, the more selfish that I get You seem like you'd be a good dad Now all those simple things are simply too complicated for my life In all I get so faithful to my freedom A selfish kind of life When all I ever wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life A simple kind of life A simple kind of life A simple kind of life

How? Just how? She's beautiful, has a pretty much perfect body (first time I've ever been turned on by a NECK), she's clever and seems like she has a lot of things to say, she's an amazing singer with insane control over her voice even when running and jumping and dancing around, and she just seems like such a damn nice and sweet person. What more could you want? I'm not obsessed by or dead set on her or anything, it just pisses me off that I know I'll never meet anyone like that ever in my life, the chances of that being so low, as well as the fact that I'll never get to experience this time period and this atmosphere: I'm just looking at it from a window through which I cannot fit. I'm nostalgic for a time I didn't get to even experience. There should be a word for that. *Sad face*
