You can blend same color to color. You open your blend options and it has a menu on how many steps you wish to blend. That solves the one blend step problem.

+bluelaugh07 True, but if your step count isn't high enough, it's easy to get jagged edges after you expand and merge. Using a smooth blend, I know every time I'll have those straight lines ;)

That blend technique is slick. I've always just used the pen tool to meet the points. Nice one.

Thanks so much for this video! This is my first time using Illustrator. I was able to follow every step in the video, except after I use the bled tool I went to expand and found that I was unable to click it. Do you know why?
@desireehenderson199 жыл бұрын
+Desiree Henderson I figured it out. I don't know why but after hitting Expand on the Pathfinder for each individual path before blending, I was now able to hit Expand in the drop down menu after.

I'm studying graphic & digital design, all those creations seems so much fun as is my study. But I'm just getting started and I wondered. Do you ever get tired of it? It is a desk job and I'm scared that I would get bored fast. Any tips?
@EveryTuesday9 жыл бұрын
+Sarah V. nope! I honestly never get tired of creating things on a daily basis! You do sit in front of a computer, but you collaborate, go on location to see your artwork, go to events, creative talks, meet ups, etc. so it's a lot less monotonous than you might think! There are always opportunities to push yourself further, so it's up to you what you'd like to get involved in :)

Anybody else not getting the blend technique to work? Even with different colors I get the one step in the middle.
@EveryTuesday9 жыл бұрын
+Devin Chaves Hey Devin! Did you convert your text into outlines first? Also, if the colors are too close in similarity it could cause an issue too. Hope that helps!
+Devin Chaves it's happening since you have more than one letter - if you have a full word, you'll need to make it a compound path before you apply the blend to it (with your word selected, go to object > compound path > make). Make sure both of your words are compound paths before you blend. That should do the trick!
