The version I know is that Zeus and Athena failed to trick Hera into breastfeeding Heracles as a baby/child but promised to not try to kill him anymore and it was only upon Heracles' death, Hera finally forgave him and as a sign of peace and goodwill breastfed him as an adult, granting him godhood, but that some of the milk eventually spilled out thru the night sky.

Breast milk is really amazing though! It works with your baby’s saliva to make antibodies specifically for that baby💙 milk fed babies are taller and do better in school so choose breast milk if you can but never judge a mom for using formula 💙every baby has different needs💜💜💜9:29 and it does fly high

Also, not every woman can breast feed. I have a family member who had to use formula, because her body wasn't producing milk. So yes, use breast milk if you can. But you're right, don't judge a mom if she uses formula. She might be using formula because she doesn't have a choice.

Somewhat related: I asked how we can be eating chicken breasts, since birds don't have breasts. They don't, of course, but they still have a bone analogous to the human breastbone, so we use the same name, and the meat we're eating is what's close to that bone.

The Milky Way gets its name from a Greek myth about the goddess Hera who sprayed milk across the sky. In other parts of the world, our galaxy goes by other names. In China it's called the “Silver River,” and in the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa, it's called the “Backbone of Night.” According to Aboriginal legend, emus were creator spirits that used to fly and look over the land. To spot the emu, look south to the Southern Cross; the dark cloud between the stars is the head, while the neck, body and legs are formed from dust lanes stretching across the Milky Way.

@Marshy If the Greco-Roman Gods, Nordic Gods etc don't exist why would the Abrahamic God (of Judaish, Christianity and Islam) exist? Just favouritism right there. Also I believe deities and other supernatural beings where created in the minds of humans because in primitive times we didn't understand the world like we do now. I believe God is a fictional being and that the Bible and Quran are a mix of history and fiction that had been mistranslated over the years that the original meaning was lost.

Time is weird. We literally judge the motion of the entire universe according to two points on the earth's surface compared to the earth's rotation on its axis. And you thought we'd accepted that our planet is not the center of the universe. You were wrong.
@justinbeath5169
@justinbeath5169 3 жыл бұрын
What else should we use? Everything moves at a different speed so what do you suggest we pick for measuring time in the universe? Why shouldn't we use the systems of time that we understand and live through every day for the past few hundred thousand years? We are an earth based species, there is nothing wrong or to be ashamed of in using our most easily recognizable points of reference to understand the universe rather than overcomplicating things with proprietary systems of measurement
@AtarahDerek
@AtarahDerek 3 жыл бұрын
@@justinbeath5169 But if we don't overcomplicate it, we'll never understand what happens in the center of our own galaxy, let alone on the other side of the universe. I'm just saying that there's a reason time is relative. Our time-based measurement of lightyears really doesn't work as well as we think it does. It works on an extremely basic, face value, highly theoretical level only. How big is our galaxy really? We have no idea.
@justinbeath5169
@justinbeath5169 3 жыл бұрын
@@AtarahDerek we cam can understand things perfectly well with our current measuring systems. If we couldn't scientists wouldn't use them. The lightyear functions as well as any other unit if measurement and we do know that the milky way is roughly 100,000 lightyears across. Propriety systems that aren't related to anything useful on a day to day scale just cause more confusion and the metric system, as well as the imperial system to a lesser degree, is very well optimized for daily life and most scientific research at a planetary scale while being adequate at a universal scale when using larger units like lightyears or parsecs
@sion8
@sion8 3 жыл бұрын
What are you referring to by “two points”?
@AtarahDerek
@AtarahDerek 3 жыл бұрын
@@sion8 Meters were invented by a cartographer to divide the earth into base 10 chunks. Scientists now measure time and velocity in meters per X minutes. A lightyear is how far light can travel in one year. It is a unit that equates to 9.46 trillion km. But we have NO idea what time actually does when light travels that far. Light is one of the fastest things in the universe, and its very motion distorts time as we perceive it. Yet because we have no choice, we assume light and time behave the same way when light reaches the other side of the galaxy as they do on this side. We have reason to believe that assumption is wrong, but at the moment we have nothing to replace it with that we can comprehend and use. So everything we think we know about what's happening in other parts of our galaxy is probably wrong. But we roll with it for now because it's all we've got. In other words, earth is the "center" of the universe because we would otherwise have literally no other means of perceiving the universe. Everything we look at in space, we compare to earth. We have to. We have no other reference point.
