also can you advise? in your squeeze bottle with titanium dioxide do you premix it with water or oil? I have been using oil which seems to work best but I wonder if I mix it how long can it sit until the next batch of soap? Thanks Ione! :)

Hi Marcy ~ I use titanium dioxide mixed with extra light olive oil and try to use what I make up in 6 months. Other hydrogenated oils have a much longer shelf life, but olive oil is cold pressed and doesn't have as long. :)

Hi Marcy ~ Since I wrote, I've gotten some water soluble titanium dioxide. I don't use it unless I want a thicker trace to work with since it needs to be mixed into the soap with a stick blender. I just make up the amount I'm planning to use. It is difficult to get it all mixed again after sitting for a while, akin to mixing water colors that have hardened. It does make a whiter color. Each kind will be useful for different purposes. :) ione eve

I love the way you blend colors to create even more unique shades... the tablet upon which I watch KZbin made the orange color you mixed look like a very lovely flamingo pinkish orange - absolutely loved it! Hello Ione, Please explain why using Titanium Dioxide causes the need to refrigerate the loaf for the 1st 17 hours. I truly enjoy your videos, lovely soaps, lovely colors & superlative explanations

Hello Gayle ~ thank you for watching my video and the lovely compliments. I appreciate it very much. To answer your question, using a lot of titanium dioxide to whiten the base causes glycerine rivers during the gel process. When the soap heats up, the TD ions draw together. Using a little TD is fine, but in this recipe I used a lot. Since I'm an impatient person, I prefer to gel the soap and cut it in 24 hours. Lately, I've been replacing most of the TD with super-pearly-white mica. It's more expensive, but goes through the gel process fine. I hope this helps, and happy soaping! :) ione eve
