Have loved Evgenia since her early days at Marinsky. So beautiful and expressive. I particularly love her equisite arms and hands - no droopy arms, limp wrists and badly shaped fingers with Evgenia. So many otherwise amazing ballerinas are let down by poor arm and hand placement.

@@КонстантинКубань-й1о No link! Would love to watch it, but don't have time to search for it right now. I am sure it is one of the best. Olesya Novikova is one of my very favorite ballerinas. I had been calling for her promotion for many years before she was finally promoted. Even sent an email to the Mariinsky. Meantime, there is a lot I don't like about the traditional Sleeping Beauty. The musty wigs for a start. At the Bolshoi that floor that competes with the dancers. Even the Rose Adagio. I would like to see them do away with the Rose Adagio altogether. I have yet to see one (not even with any of the best ballerinas) where the pressure and concentration, because of the difficulty, is not palpable, detracting from the fluidity of the dance and the libretto. Nacho Duato has done away with it. In fact he has completely changed Sleeping Beauty. It is the most beautiful version of Sleeping Beauty I have ever seen. Interestingly, there was apprehension when news broke that he was reworking it, because he is known for way-out contemporary work. He came up with something spectacularly beautiful that fits right into classical ballet (with just a few modern twists).

She was spectacular. It was as if she were walking through a wonderful dream. She communicated the hitherto unconscious understanding and feelings of the young princess. The princes were so handsome. What an elaborate production. It all came together so beautifully.

Wow - Evgenia is the best Aurora I've seen. I was so proud and happy for her at 5:58. That looks so hard! I can't even imagine that lengthy balancing en pointe (on one leg!) for so long in front of an audience. She's an amazing artist.

I really enjoyed Evgenia too! you might enjoy Dupont, she too showed some signs of uncertainty in her balance initially but somehow managed to recover towards the end and balance en pointe for an impressively long moment. but my favourite Aurora has to be Zakharova for her grace and impeccable composure. And although i havent yet seen a live performance of her in Sleeping Beauty i know that my expectations will not be disappointed!!

Balthesar I've seen Svetlana perform Aurora live and it was worth every penny! She was absolutely perfect and she is my favourite Aurora as well! I saw Evgenia last month in Swan Lake and she made an absolutely gorgeous Odette/Odile! I hope that I can see her Juliet one day!

Obratsova is a gorgeous dancer, and has a very special quality. But to say she’s the only “Aurora” to hold her positions, etc. etc. etc. tells me that people haven’t seen many dancers in this role. Maybe they’re really young girls and don’t have any idea of who’s out there to watch, I dk! I’m not going to list these dancers, bc there are just too many outstanding Aurora’s today and backwards through the years to put in a list....ya’ll need to branch out and watch different dancers if you truly believe Obratsova is “the best,” that’s for sure! There are many, many as good, and as for better than she is, that’s a matter of personal taste and not an absolute.

I’ve read each and every comments under this video. Not one of them claims that Evgenia is the only one to hold such and such positions. Not even one that claims that she’s THE best. I’ve seen people here call her ONE of the best, or one of their favourites. But you’re basically making an argument out of nothing. And a lot of commenters here are people that I’ve seen on countless ballet videos of performances of countless ballerinas, dating back to a decade ago. Not exactly the close minded twelve years old little girls you want them to be. So again, your reprimands are quite unnecessary.
