The difference between a good pianist and a great pianist is what they make you few. The good pianist makes you go wow, but beneath that there is not much else. The great pianist makes tears fall, and Evgeny is one of the greatest.

3:06 Priceless dude who doesn't know when a classical piece ends..
@ariayuan92318 жыл бұрын
lol, it happens sometimes .

This is neither a classical piece nor does it end in a manner typically observed in classical pieces.
@legalalien13968 жыл бұрын
What is more hilarious is that he really wanted to show off he knows when it ends. Actually if he knows when it ends doesn't matter. I hate people doesn't wanna appreciate the complete end of any kind of performance.
@Qee7en7 жыл бұрын
Well, I LOVE the silence right after the end of a beautiful piece of music, so I hate people who start screaming right after a performance anyways.

The Moonwalker if it were me i‘d have called out after that particular bit myself. I mean the way Kissin plays the Legato with a Crescendo made me laugh with joy when I first heard it. Don’t think i could have resisted any better if I had heard seen it live on stage. Screw the establishment. Hooray for Kissin

Evegny played this UNDER 4 MINUTES! Nobody has ever accomplished that with the dexterity level of this performance! And for the guy at 3:06... I don't believe he thought that was the end of the song. It sounds like he said "GO!" which would make sense figuring the song was about to go from 10 to 100 real quick. Evegny hadn't missed a note, and his fingers were about to take off from earth. That little moment struck adrenaline into the audience and Kissin himself to flawlessly annihilate the ending of La Campanella. Brilliant performance !!!!

For everyone who has never played this piece: A time of 4:00 straight is COMPLETELY INSANE!! I've been practicing for 3/4 of a year now and I can barely scratch 4:30. (And at that point it becomes rushed and not clean at all) There is no other video on youtube I can find with a time below 4:30 - it really is incredible.

The reflection says: 'Help! I can't keep up!' I remember hearing this piece for the first time and was convinced it was played by two people. Then I saw this. Then I threw my keyboard out the window.

So glad you included him among the top - this man will go on to join the all-time greats (Rubinstein, Horowitz, Busoni, etc.), in spite of some of the ludicrous, ignorant and plainly malicious criticisms I read below!!!

the quality of the sound, the clarity with which he plays and his way of not putting too much pedal on the first part of the etude makes me really like this performance

it s amazing, you may like kissin or not, but after searching the web for something getting close to this (lang lang, trifonov, any ideas...??), you just get to the conclusion such a thing doesnt exist, we guys are lucky to live at the time of the greatest pianist ever on earth...i think even liszt himself wouldn't have slept for weeks if he heard and saw that...

I think saying he's one of the greatest technical pianists is fair. For certain pieces he does not have the interpretive depth as someone like Martha Argerich however.

This is like a whole branch of mathematics, or one complete style of martial arts. The fun part would be the discovery, by yourself, of how it should be played. And since everybody plays it differently, I think it's more like martial arts, because you can be a grandmaster at it. But the hard part is finding passion to fight it and play it, without actually fighting anybody, but your emotions, because if you did fight somebody, you'd be able to fit your style with another style. You don't caredou

@sirshitsalot007 if i'm interpreting your question accurately, it is beneficial to play with relaxed wrists (especially with pieces that have fast tempos). Tension in the muscles inhibits the ability to play at faster speeds and is detrimental to the physical well-being of your muscles in the long term.

@MrStrav81 Depends on the audience, most performances i go to in America people are well behaved, if it was shown in a free public display, then yeah there would always be those group of guys who think its funny to disrupt.

Dstrukt2k2 hits the nail on the head. This was a mechanical rendition, and it didn't help that the video ended half way through the last note. Or perhaps it did help.
