The very best performance I ever heard was played by maestro Andrei Gavrilow who won the first prize at the 1974 International Tschaikowsky Competition Moscow. Kissin played it also in a diabolic style. Very tempted, clear pronounced, clear accentuated, showing transparency according to the topics of the score and a large amount of tension wich is needed to approach the devil and facing him! Bravissimo!
