I like the way of playing the 2 Cellos, Luka and Stjepan separately, David Garett and to hear playing you with Luka made me attentive to you. There is warmth from the way you play and it feels so good to hear it. I have still in my bib the piano of my daughter … I am 75, but maybe it’s never too late to learn. The way you explain everything gives a kick to try it. Regards from Jelsa!👍🤔 😉 🍀

Thank you Evgeny for this video. I have played off & on for a long time and no one ever explained this in such a clear way. It is AKWAYS A PLEASURE WATCHING AND LISTENING TO YOU.

This is a most useful video, Evgeny! As you mention some basic, but very important, things that we don't stop to think about. Thanks a lot! ❤

Really helpful evgeny. I had some really discouraging teachers in my childhood so I'm not a great player but the very things you mentioned resonated with me. I get a lot of neck and trap pain at piano but I could just dream away at it for hours. I heard you and Luka talking in your interview with him about physical health and fitness....do you have other suggestions for posture in sitting at piano?

Great video, Evgeny! No matter your skill level, these are essential reminders for maintaining healthy playing habits! PS I too suffer from the floating pinky of doom. 😜

You could explain anything 😜 I‘d always listen and watch. I‘m not playing the piano anymore, but maybe gonna pick it up in the future again. Definitely a great video - looking forward to the next episodes (are there coming new ones?)😊👍 Would definitely also love to see things like the violin charades (by twosetviolin) > just with the piano...or like piano film scene critiques. (Just to also adress the non or less-musical people out there...)

Now I'm wondering Lola Astanova's position to her bench with that long legs on hills...seems uncomfortable to be that far from the piano 😎 What's your favorite brand of grand concert piano; Steinway&Sons, Bosendorfer, Bechstein, Yamaha or.... As each brand has its own character Make the video more fun...
@EvgenyGenchev5 жыл бұрын
As I was filming that I thought of that same thing. What I did felt really uncomfortable and yet she takes it even further. Hope it doesn't cause her trouble long term! Re brands, as you said, all of them have different character so I guess it depends on the repertoire. This Bechstein is stunning though!
@christianvennemann90085 жыл бұрын
I've always heard that if you want something that sounds "lyrical", go with Bösendorfer. But if you want something with the power to permeate a gigantic concert hall with its clear sound, go with Steinway. At least, that's what I've heard.

I recently noticed that I always have my pinkies up when I am playing, unless of course I need to hit a note that uses the pinkie. I have actually tried to lower my pinkies but I can't ! Also trying to relax my hands doesn't work. I don't have this when I'm typing something on my laptop like I am doing now, and I have no idea why this is.

hey currently trying to get equal level of expression/dexterity (mirror image playing) in both hands (especially trying to loosen up my left pinky and ring finger) do you know of any good exercises for it?
@EvgenyGenchev5 жыл бұрын
Having an equal level in both hands is a common issue for almost all pianists due to many reasons. I will be covering ways to tackle particular technical and physical problems for sure. Meanwhile, make sure you increase your awareness of the left hand and you can begin to make progress in the right direction
@isaacodyss42705 жыл бұрын
@@EvgenyGenchevah okay, i thought that might be the case. I have been doing Bachs 48(and trying focus on LH voicing ) ive even started drawing and painting with my left hand to try coax more ambidexterity lol.

Please don’t get to the gym more than 3X a week, and don’t get bulk up. Your lattismus dorsi already very developed. Any bigger will make you stiff (like Arnold)! Best exercise? Yoga and or Pilates. --- Basically the same exercise for horse riding. !
