EVH 5150 OD vs. FRIEDMAN BE-OD

Awesome guitar playing! Built in noise gate on the evh is a big plus. Both pedals sound great though.

I agree it's a plus, if you don't have a separate one, but generally speaking, if you can have a separate gate, you gain a lot more control before you get your signal to your pedals.

Hello! Great comparison thank you. Have you seen the mooer brown sound? That one even has IR 😮. But i think for the money the evh has gate and boost. I might go for the EVH

to get a good tone from the BE-OD, turn the internal gain pot almost all the way counterclockwise. If it's too high. you'll just get noise and feedback.

Yes BE-OD def has a lot of gain on tap and playing with the internal gan pot is the key to dialing it in. I run mine at around 10 o'clock and adjust everything else to taste for hard rock. 🤘🤘🤘

I have to lower the Treble on my EVH for it to not be too spikey

Have you had the opportunity to try either of these in a live setting? Curious how the Freidman would perform. I have the 5150 pedal…..had it for a little while now, but only just recently had the opportunity to gig with it. Could not get it to cut through the band mix at all. Thankfully I still had my MXR Super Badass Distortion on the board. Saved the gig for me.

Yes . The friedman sounds too compressed and too sharp sounding. Hard to cut in the mix too

@@markcartelofficial7113 Strange that both pedals can't cut through but yes, Friedman is harsh and even with the internal gain trim pot you can't actually "control" the gain - too much, too harsh... I think that Friedman DShirley could be a better option

I own the Friedman small box..Revv g3..and the Joyo chopper z. Chopper z and revv are great for higher gains.The small box pedal is really good for like ACDC and classic rock.Happy with all of them.
