Evicted by Mom

The plaintiff brings her mother to court. She says she grew up in over 30 foster homes because her mom was a crack addict. The plaintiff says she stayed with her mom after she was the victim of a crime, and they agreed on a rent plan. She claims her mom evicted her, so she’s suing for unreturned property and illegal eviction. The defendant denies owing her daughter anything. She’s countersuing for emotional distress.

@@paytonbf1 Sometimes outside people are basing their 2 cents on what the traditional idea of a mother is, like one who is actually raising their child(ren) and making sacrifices for them. They may say that standard saying "you only get one momma." My dad raised me and my brother due to our mom being unfit due to crack, alcohol, and other personal issues. It took years after becoming an adult for her to stop the guilt trips, including sporadic voicemails saying "I'm still your mother. " I thank God those messages have stopped. 🙌🏽 I love her and I truly wish her the best in her life. I don't think I resent her anymore - if I do I hope it leaves me. Anywho, my point of this comment is other people's comments are usually based on the traditional ideas of the mother role. So if they don't actually know or experienced it themselves, they don't understand the physiological and emotional need to maintain a healthy distance from your mom so you can have some inner peace in your life in regards to communicating with her. It's like a thin line to have a balanced relationship - being open and guarded at the same time. An inner protection mechanism. I'll just add that after decades of being clean and sober, some still don't know how to be a mom. Yes, they are biologically. But sometimes it's like they just don't have the capacity to actually BE a mom. And this is after decades of no crack/ drugs. I think a lot of the time there are some underlying issues that they don't address. Not saying this as an excuse, just an understanding

I grew up motherless and fatherless, and my grandparents on my mothers side raised me. So I know 1st hand what having deadbeat parents feel like. And I totally agree with your statement: parenting isn’t for everyone! Just because your parent is there, doesn’t mean that they are there! You feel me?

Foster home since age three...Let that sink in people. At 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and on you cannot defend yourself against bullies, molesters, and harmful acts while in someone's care over 30 homes. No remorse from the mom, only harassment sending DCF workers to constantly bother her. Sad, very very sad.

Ex foster kid here; it is as terrible as it sounds😔 I was in ONLY 10 different homes before age 10!! Can you imagine going to school in the morning and coming home at 3pm, to find your bag packed and your social worker there to take you to the next unknown home!! It affects you your ENTIRE life!! Because the show takes small claims cases from the docket by agreeing to pay the judgements. The litigants are flown to the show, put up in a hotel, and meals covered at the show's expense. That's how both parties are compensated (remember it's not a real court). The show gets content in return for covering these expenses - that's how all of these court shows work.

To answer more directly, it's pretty apparent that this woman has no shame. I've seen several cases where no self-respecting person would air out their nonsense on TV, but I'm guessing the trip and the potential money are enough for some people.
