Co-ask. I haven't seen a video that demonstrates how to log negative values.

Dear Professor, Thank you very much for your video! Please tell me, does it make sense to logarithm the percentage data, when we are building a model, for example, the unemployment rate? Thank you very much in advance! Sincerely, Olesia

Why do yo want to take log of percentage data? Any reason
@olesialebedivna77634 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your answer! I am building a VAR-model with the unemployment rate as a dependent variable. In other literature I saw that the unemployment rate was logarithmic. So, I try to understand why.

Sir why It necessary to convert a series into log form.. Benifits of log form?? Plzz answer
@econacademy164 жыл бұрын
It is not necessary to convert series into log form... Log form just removes problem of autocorrelation and in some case it also convert variable into normal distribution... Plus interpretation will also be changed
@drmearajuddin23344 жыл бұрын
Thanku for the kind reply.. Can u please tell me difference in interpretation by a brief example.. That will so humble of you
@econacademy164 жыл бұрын
@@drmearajuddin2334 when the variable is in linear form then you will interpret it as a 1 unit of change in independent variable will bring (value of coefficient of independent variable) unit change in dependent variable.. However when you interpret a variable which is in percentage from then you will say that a 1 percent change in independent variable will bring (value of coefficient of independent variable) percent change in dependent variable.. as log convert variable into percentage so you will interpret it like the second one.
