the dye i4 variants (i have the same exact one as Matt displayed) are very form fit, minimalist and comfy. they have ease of looking down an optic with a 1/3 or half riser mount, they never fog up, never cracked, has a surprisingly wide filed of view, a comfortable amount of foam, and is very breathable. the only downside about the dye i4's, in my opinion is that the adjustable clip strap does tend to loosen, but very minimal. (I use it with a tan shemagh with a simple top head wrap around, bandana style) and it never seems to loosen after that. (also if you have a silk or any smoother type of balaclava it tends to slide up and down a lot more) the dye i5 variants are a small amount more expensive, but I believe is worth the purchase, very similar to the i4's although it has a bit of a larger frame, has a crank style adjustable strap on the back, unlike the dye i4's that only have clip adjusters. it has more dense, padded two stage foam that is more comfortable to the skin, and has a well over enough field of view. only downside is that it's a bit larger then the i4's, being a bit more firm with the cheek flexibility, and having a more difficult time aligning your optic and getting a clear sight picture.

@@fischerb3829 from what I know so far, i4’s have a slimmer and more flexible chin frame so it would work best with either a low ak stock, or a slim magpull m4 style stock. It is still a little difficult to aim down irons, so I recommend a 20-30mm red dot with at least a low riser mount. I5’s are slightly wider and more firm in the frame so I recommend free balling your bbs if you use an i5.. basically yes, but with extra steps lol

I had an 80s-era gas mask. One of the really great features, and I've never seen this replicated on any of these masks... when you inhaled, the air entered the mask below the eyes. The mask had two chambers. A lower one that covered your mouth and nose, and an upper one which covered your eyes. Air could only move from outside to upper to lower to outside. This meant that every inhale brought fresh, dry air from outside across your lenses and your eyes, both cooling them and keeping the humidity off (no fogging); and every exhale was kept away from the upper chamber. Nothing I see in any of these resembles this. Some attempt to keep your breath from your eyes; but the eye space itself has nothing but passive air-flow at best. Yes, putting a fan in the last helmet was cool; but that could have been powered by breathing. Let me know if you know of something that resembles what the mask did.

I am thinking about switching to a paintball mask so that I could peak more "freely" and not be scared of getting shot in the face with a shotgun. never use mesh eye protection unless you have glasses underneath.
@Sifu_Steve7 ай бұрын
Why? The actual testing of mesh has shown, constantly, that there is almost no risk from BB fragments causing eye damage. To go to the science, the energy from the BB is dissipated upon impact, leaving almost nothing for any fragments to then move into your eye. It's akin to getting dust in your eye, so hardly sight-threatening. For my own experience, I've used mesh in airsoft for over 20 years and although I've felt shattered BB debris on my face and in my eye, it's never been more than an inconvenience, whilst I wipe it out. The benefit of not having to deal with fog is well worth the payoff. For the record, I'd lose my job if my vision was impaired, so I've looked into this seriously. In short, I think I know my shit, so just putting a blanket statement out that suggests mesh is dangerous is simply crap advice.
@Jacob-ol3zb3 ай бұрын
@@Sifu_SteveI haven't looked thoroughly into the reliability of mesh. I think maybe the reason people advice against it is because there could be a lot of lower quality mesh on the market that won't protect you very well. What do you recommend for people who are thinking about starting airsoft
@smol_hornet6132 жыл бұрын
It mainly depends on how much you're willing to spend, as well as in what other gear you might want. In general, a paintball mask is a very good option if you want full face protection. They're easy to put on, can be fairly cheap for what you get, and gives hard protection for your whole face. But they are known to be incompatible with most kinds of helmets, so if you want a helmet you'll need something more low-profile. The goggle and mesh mask combo is the cheapest full protection available as far as I know. It's what I use, and what you'll see a lot of airsoft youtubers use as well. One of the main advantages is that a mesh mask doesn't stick out from your chin and so won't get in the way of aiming down sights, which is a big issue with a lot of full-face headgear. Speaking of cost: do note that there are many cheaper options than what's listed here that are still reputable and reliable. Once you go over, say, 20-30 dollars for goggles, what you're really paying for is the comfort, the anti-fog as well as various other features such as swappable lenses. But any goggles can be anti-fog treated, so you don't really need to go premium if you don't want to. Anyway, hope this helps.

@@BraydenGlascockMedia Ok would you recommend another full-face helmet possibly under $100 bucks or close to that price?
@BraydenGlascockMedia2 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminhinson3780 full face options are honestly pretty crappy. I know Matt brought them up in this video but that only because they exist. They’re not practical. There’s a reason why they’re “unique” and that’s just because no one wants to use them because they suck. I posted another comment on this video giving my top recommendation for face protection which is a helmet/goggle/mesh mask combo. It’s the most comfortable and it never fogs. Trust me, I tried buying one of these cool looking options and they’re really more props than they are practical. They are a nightmare to actually play with because you literally cannot use your gun properly with them. Sometimes you just have to learn for yourself, but I’m telling you, any mask that has a molded cheek weld is not practical. This goes for full masks like the iron warrior, the full face mesh, the fiberglass masks, even the half face mesh masks. The best option is the soft cheek mesh masks with goggles like he showed in this video. Also not to mention in all the full face masks, the lenses fog up really easy. Look for my other comment for a full break down. But what I use are the matrix GX-1000 goggles ($30) (they’re slim and have interchangeable lenses and they have never fogged on me, not even once) with a matrix soft cheek mesh masks ($12) and literally any type of FAST/bump style helmet (around $40) but you don’t even need a helmet. Also, wear a headband to keep the sweat from getting into the goggles seal to prevent sweating. I’m telling you, this is the absolute best combo for playing. It’s functional, practical, comfortable, you can shoulder your gun, and it doesn’t fog. I hope this helps. Ps if you see any kind of cool or unique looking mask, like I said before, there’s a reason why they’re unique and you don’t see them very often. You might think it’ll make you look cool, but if they looked cool and they were actually good and functional, everyone would use them. There’s a reason why people don’t use them. Hope this helps!

There's generally just not any point having mesh goggles. As said in the video, no kind of mesh works as reliable eye protection due to bb shrapnel being able to fly through. Also, having paint from mesh masks blown into your mouth from the impact isn't unheard of. So, even if you wear mesh goggles you still have to wear regular protective goggles underneath those goggles. Correct me if I'm missing something, but that kinda defeats the purpose.
