Caris LeVert - Crafty Creator

Caris LeVert might have been well on his way to becoming an NBA All-Star this season before going down with that nasty foot injury. Not only that, but in many an article and interview, he was stated as being one of the franchise cornerstones. By all accounts, he’s a great off the court guy who wishes everyone success, and that selflessness translates onto the court in a major way because that’s the type of player you want to see succeed even if you are competing against them (both from an opponent standpoint but also even if you are trying to take minutes from them). The former Wolverine was drawing some comparisons to the former regular season and 2 time Finals MVP Kevin Durant in his time in college; his nickname at Michigan was “Baby Durant”. When he got a chance to work with his future teammate in 2017, KD told him “just be ready. Be ready for the moment.” and it looks like LeVert took those words to heart. The rebuilding Brooklyn Nets broke out early this season, in no small part because of the All-Star buzz that Caris was creating for himself. This video is meant to highlight some of the things he can do, while also draw attention to the fact that he can do all of these things with two high profile All-NBA players in Kevin and Kyrie Irving coming in.
In an article by the great Zach Lowe, he discusses how Jacque Vaughn developed something of a mantra with Caris: "You can get to any spot you want. You dictate everything. That was the shot you wanted, and no one was able to get you off of it. Never feel rushed." You can see that in many aspects of Caris’ game. He gets to spots, his combination of size, quickness, and sneakily outstanding shiftiness and handle, allow him to dictate the pace.

I see a lot of Kyrie in LeVerts game...I think LeVert a fan and Kyrie knows but Kyrie will give up the ball... problem in Boston was Hayward underperforming and JT,JB, and Terry would overcompensate trying to compete for minutes and it was a disaster....The young players wanted to iso like Kyrie when he was off the floor, give up leads routinely..LeVert elite as a ball handler and in P&R....Only player fit that description in Boston last year was Kyrie
