Thank you for this info! I looked everywhere and couldn't determine if my roller was good or bad. Great video!

Thank you. I appreciate that. Unfortunately that 90 was on it's last leg. I've been rebuilding a 1980 140cv powerhead that I bought as a donor/rebuild. Just got it back together but still need to put it on the boat. I will do a video on it when I get it wrapped up here in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you so much for posting this information, I have tried countless things to try and restore the power I used to have with my 1996 JOHNSON 112 SPL. I didnt even notice how worn out my cam follower was. I dont recall reading anything in my OMC SERVCE MANUAL that specifies the importance of these rollers. Thank you so much, once again priceless information!

That's great! Glad it helped. And yes, I agree. I have the factory service manual and it pretty much doesn't say anything about the rollers in the link and sync section or anywhere else for that matter. I have it in PDF version so you can Ctrl + F and search key-words. I've come across maybe 2 or 3 comments deep inside forum threads that mention worn out rollers but never any pictures so you can't really see/tell how much the roller is worn out until you have the new part in your hand. I'm still going to upload a follow up video maybe this weekend. I've had it out a few times now and just got back from another lake test today. I played with the timing more while I was anchored and got it better than the 3-5 degrees before top dead center. For whatever reason my motor likes more timing. Anyways, glad it helped. I'll be uploading more content on this old 90 in the near future so stay tuned and thanks for watching!

****UPDATE**** While waiting for the video to upload to KZbin I came across a thread on HullTruth forums on complete accident while trying to figure out what the last year of production was for the V4 crossflow (98'). I now realize that my other roller, the carb roller is worn out as well. It ALSO should have a clear rubber casing around the internal plastic of the roller. It does NOT! I repeat, does NOT. I found the part, #0432639 on Amazon and I will upload an update video when I get the part middle of next week.

Excellent explanation extremely helpful. Definitely did not find the answer anywhere else. Went to the marine supply they told me that piece was correct and in fact it was not. Thanks for the info!

Awesome! I'm glad it helped. I ended up replacing that 1995 90hp with a 1980 140hp. Both are Crossflows. All of the crossflows from 1979-1998 are the same block and bore regardless of HP designation. They are all 100ci. All parts are interchangeable. I completely rebuilt the 1980 and redressed it with the electronics and ignition from 1995 90cv that I had. It's essentially a 1995 115cv with the bubbleback exhaust and big 1 5/16 carbs with 67c jets. I plan on doing another video here soon to show the upgrade and how I put it together.

Good information. Was buying a boat some weeks ago and that 115 the rollers is worse. Im belive can be a problem here in Sweden to find the rollers or very long shipping time. Can you measure the outside of the new rollers? Thinking im maybe can make new ones on my own

Thank you for the video and information (I have a 93' 90hp V4) - the carb roller is worn out on mine so I will search for your video on replacing that (and I will check out and possibly replace this roller as well)

What's the diameter of the clear part? I appreciate it. My dads boat was missing the small one and had just the plastic left on the thicker one
