보이는(seen) 그리고 보이지 않는(unseen) 악동의 양면성을 다루며 깊어진 내러티브를 구축했던 EVNNE이 올여름 또다시 그들만의 스토리를 그려내며 색다른 모습으로 비약한다.
EVNNE은 데뷔 앨범 [Target: ME]와 2집 미니 앨범 [Un: SEEN]을 거치며 패기 넘치는 악동을 넘어 내면의 상처를 딛고 세상의 중심에서 자주적인 변화를 이끄는 악동으로서의 한층 성장한 서사를 선보여 왔다.
세 번째 미니 앨범 [RIDE or DIE]에서는 그 서사의 범위를 확장하여 ‘끝까지 함께할 사이’라는 믿음과 충성을 강조하는 관용구를 활용함으로써 사랑에 저돌적인 EVNNE을 그려낼 예정이다.
EVNNE만의 사랑은 마치 진실 혹은 대담 사이에서 하나를 택해야만 하는 게임과도 같다. [RIDE or DIE]는 이 비유를 반영하여 상대를 향한 EVNNE의 열정적인 면모와 감춰진 속마음을 두 컨셉으로 나누어 표현하고자 한다.
폐허를 배경으로 한 메인 컨셉 ‘Dare’ 속 EVNNE은 부서진 잔재들에 개의치 않고 금지된 구역을 자유롭게 넘나드는 모습을 보여준다. 다소 위태로운 공간이라 할지라도 기꺼이 위험을 감수하며 상대에게 거리낌 없이 나아가는 그들의 태도는 맹목적인 사랑을 대변하고 있다.
그에 반하는 서브 컨셉 ‘Truth’는 상대를 줄곧 그리워하는 감정을 오컬트 장르에서 자주 다루는 오브제인 양초, 주사위, 베일 등에 투영하여 표현해 내 그 의미를 극대화하였다.
뮤직비디오에서는 불완전한 여건 속 사랑이라는 목표를 향해 달려가는 EVNNE의 여정을 담는다. 공동의 목적을 달성하기 위한 그들의 고군분투와 서로 간의 케미스트리를 시네마 톤으로 표현하여 소년미를 더욱 강조하고, 험난한 과정에서 시나브로 쌓여가는 소중한 추억들은 영상의 백미가 되어 눈길을 사로잡는다.
기존 악동만의 거친 기백을 펼쳤던 EVNNE은 오는 6월, 보다 편안하고 자연스러운 무드로 보여주지 않았던 청량한 모습을 선사하면서 그들이 가진 광활한 스펙트럼을 명백히 각인시킬 것이다.
EVNNE, who has built a deepened narrative by covering the duality of seen and unseen sides of rascals, will once again create their own story this summer, soaring with a different appearance.
EVNNE has shown a significantly advanced narrative as rascals who overcome their inner scars and lead independent change at the center of the world beyond their exuberance through their debut album [Target: ME] and their 2nd mini album [Un: SEEN].
In the third mini album, the scope of narrative will expand to portray EVNNE’s reckless stance on love by using a phrase [RIDE or DIE], emphasizing the trust and loyalty of ‘together until the end’.
EVNNE’s unique approach to love is like a game where one must choose between truth or dare. [RIDE or DIE] reflects this metaphor, expressing EVNNE’s passionate side and hidden feelings towards the other through two different concepts.
EVNNE in the main concept ‘Dare’ with ruins at the background shows how they freely cross the forbidden areas regardless of broken remnants. Their attitude towards the other with a willingness to take the risk without hesitation even in somewhat precarious space represents the blind love.
In the contrary, the sub concept ‘Truth’ uses objects often seen in the occult genre, such as candles, dice, veils, etc., to project one’s ongoing feelings of missing the other, thus maximizing the meaning behind it.
The music video captures EVNNE’s journey towards the goal of love amidst imperfect condition. Their struggles to achieve a common goal and the chemistry between each other are expressed via cinematic tone pointing out their boyish charm, and the precious memories accumulated during a bumpy ride become the highlight of the video, catching viewer’s eye.
EVNNE, who previously showcased the rough spirit of rascals, will clearly imprint their vast spectrum this June, by presenting a refreshing appearance they haven’t shown before, in a more comfortable and natural mood.
