Evo X Turbo Manifold Replacement

Its true what they say about replacing these manifolds. I was one bolt away from this being an absolute breeze. Take the time to clean parts well for reassembly. Enjoy.

Make sure the turbo housing has no cracks too

yeah i checked. Luckily there was a new MHI turbo installed probably at the 3/4 mark in its life and it looked to be in great shape

Holy cow man! Clipped a dear and went off into a ditch. The most tiny trees did the most insane amount of damage. New ventures to come. Haven't decided on a platform yet.

When replacing the manifold, do you have to retune the car?

Would be the best thing to do, but you can get away with it as long as you aren't changing other things. Don't go romping on it every chance you get. If your replacing the exact same manifold, you should be okay though as long as the car was tuned properly when the manifold was working properly as well.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ needed help taking the studs out of the turbo. Can’t find a clear video anywhere with any pointers unless it’s someone doing it with the motor completely out of the car fml

Its a beast job. Those MHI housings are the most difficult for machine shops to work on. I soaked the bolt forever and it still stripped and broke. I wish I was replacing the turbo as well at the same time but that wasn't the case.
