If I was a rich classic car buff I would have one of these in an instant. Bang on the miles in style and don't worry about depreciating one of your million quid Ferrari, Astons or indeed Jags. It is truly stunning and will be a LOT more reliable, faster and better to drive than the original version. Also, I don't think that this carries the stigma of a 'kit car'. It's WAY more than that and is probably much better built than the original ever was.

Doubt it on the later part. 50s cars were a proper built ones. Hell any original 3.4 jaguar engine won't be so wonky to start as this one was. Always on the button.

I know that road well - the B4560 between Garnlydan (above Ebbw Vale) across to Llangynidr, or take a sharp right down to Crickhowell. It gets used quite frequently by all the motoring shows, and on a fine day it's got brilliant views and there's no finer place to be in a quickish soft-top car. Drive carefully though - there have sadly been fatalities in the recent past.

One small problem. Jaguar made hundreds of thousands of XK engines for road cars, almost the same as the '50s race engines. Ferrari didn't make the 3 litre V12 after 1964

I watched this company grow from 1982 when they was called copycats,they later changed their name to Proteus in 1987. These were not your flimsy fibreglass kits cars,they were handmade and handbuilt.The owner and creator of the company was called Jim Marland,and they were based in Little Lever just outside of Bolton in Lancashire,in Albert street. I was born at 5&7 Albert st in 1964 so was 18 when they started up. My late father spent many hours with Jim,and they used to go over to Belmont for the test drives when each vehicle was finished and ready to be sold. Now exactly 50 years on they have grown in value and rightly so,as they are 100% quality vehicles from the ground up.

Lovely car, but can't get over the stigma of a replica. Not that this is a problem for me now as this car is well beyond my means! Still, I get the impression that this is either bought by people who have the original but don't want to risk it on the public road or by those who want the original but can't afford it and don't care about it being a replica. Either way it's a lovely thing.

Quite nice, but I wouldn't buy. This is an homage at best, part of the c type experience, I imagine, is it's faults, the totally different way it has to be driven vs the more modern stuff. For 130k I would prefer a 620r or a morgan or even a carbed lotus 7, at least they are what they are.

@@eddiel7635 How would wider tires be any worse tho?
@eddiel76353 жыл бұрын
@@nickamarit I wouldn’t know I’m not a race car engineer but I’ve seen GM talking about the fact that wide super car tires are for marketing and show and actually make their performance worse. Admittedly there is a jump between these and wide super care tires but the point being that bigger doesn’t always mean better
@nickamarit3 жыл бұрын
@@eddiel7635 I said wider, not widest. You can clearly see how the car cannot put down power properly. For its 1 ton weight, even a normal Summer road tire would be plenty. Perhaps a 225-45-17 or something like that; not the skinny motorcycle tires it has on now.
