It's loosely based on Oids (Atari ST) but yeah, I'm sure there were other similar games on other platforms.

I downloaded a movie quotes game on my Amazon Kindle Fire 8-10 years ago. It had leaderboards. I got the high score in all categories. A year later the boards disappeared. GRRRRRRR.....
