Great review man. I'm buying one very soon. I'll use your link when I do. You earned it. I've been using a Harbor-Freight 6" horizontal bandsaw for the past decade as well abrasives, angle-grinders, etc, and I'm truly over the wait time of the bandsaw. It has to be baby sat too often and you never really have enough time to do other things while waiting for it to cut. They are helpful at night however if you have neighbors and want to keep cuts quiet. The cold saws are a lot louder ...but it's time!

Cold cut is the way to go. Metal chips tossed about is the only negative, everything else is absolutely a positive and worth it.

I have absolutely admired that saw since you started using it. I abhor the abrasive disc mess, but I don't cut much metal anymore and I sold my welder, so can't justify this option. I'm glad you enjoy it!

A friend has the cast iron base model without the pinned fence, I was going to get the same one until I watched your rocket stove build and you showed the adjustment on this saw. I bought this model and used it on a job last week and love it. Thanks.

When I first got mine I did see oil. It appeared to packing oil and has since been a non issue for me.

Could you purchase just the evolution carbide blade and fit that on a standard chop saw?
@TheKelleysReviews
@TheKelleysReviews 9 ай бұрын
You don't want to do that as they typically spin a higher RPM than the blade is rated for.

@@TheKelleysReviews gotcha. Didn’t think that the evolution saw would have a lower RPM. Guess it makes sense though since it was made to use the more aggressive carbide blades.

FYI, there are now some 10" metal blades rated for 4000-5000 rpm. I'm about to test one on a cheap Hitachi saw I picked up for $40 which is 4,000rpm. Here's another thing too; You'll quickly find you can't do this with 12" blades on any standard 12" chop saw as you'll find the RPM's don't match up (seems 10" is the sweet spot). Secondly, I wouldn't even recommend doing it with a standard 10" saw because of reduced torque, but people are doing it. And I'd say the key is to cut lightly and not overwork the saw. Regardless, I wouldn't expect a standard saw to last long term if cutting metal with it exclusively every day (hence why I just bought one very cheap used..but still in excellent shape). In contrast, the BLUE Evolution saws have more torque and are specifically geared for much lower RPM's (like 1450 rpm). Their ORANGE models seem to be "hybrids" for wood and steel and are I think around 3500rpm. Lastly, industrial cold saws typically cost $2,000 or more and have even lower rpm like 1,000 or less.
