Evolution of Amtrak's Motive Power in Train Simulator

Today as you may know is Amtrak Day, in other words Amtrak was created 49 years ago today in 1971. In those 49 years, the railroad has seen quite the variety of motive power ranging from vintage diesels of the 1940s to modern electrics built by Siemens. In this video, utilizing Train Simulator 2020, we'll take a look at a generalized evolution of Amtrak's motive power used throughout the years. Obviously not all engines that Amtrak has used are included here (GG1, FL9, E60, Charger, etc.) since not all of them have been made for Train Simulator or have available Amtrak reskins. Regardless, Happy Amtrak Day!

The simulator may not have all of the engines, but it does have a Star Trek style Transporter. Watch carefully the people on the platform at 9:49. Helps if you slow it down to half speed.

So many inaccuracies on the Hudson -E8’s couldn’t run south of Harmon due to diesel emission restrictions in Penn and GCT. -The West Side Line wasn’t opened to Amtrak service til 1991 and the SF40DF’s were long retired by then. And they never ran work trains either. -Dash 8’s don’t run south of Albany because they’re too big to fit in Penn and the diesel emissions regulations. Should have used the Hudson Line extension for better accuracy for the E8’s otherwise this great video showing Amtrak!
