A true Mishima should be able to throw people off cliffs. Jinpachi did it to Heihachi, Jinpachi's father did it to him, then Heihachi did it to Jinpachi…and Kazuya, then Kazuya did it to Heihachi, then Heihachi did it to Kazuya AGAIN, then 5 games later, Kazuya did it to Heihachi AGAIN…sigh, but it seems Jin wasn't up to it. That's the thing about Tekken, there are few good guys and they SURE AS SHIT ain't the main characters (except Jin and even then the MOTHERFUCKER STARTED WW3) Even in Tekken 1 they kind of make it clear that Kazuya isn't trying to defeat Heihachi for the good of the world: He's just doing it for both REVENGE and to take the Mishima Zaibatsu for himself.

Missing the T5 ending for Ling Xiaoyu, Kuma's ending for Tekken 6 (it's an alternate of Heihachi's in the same game), and the bad ending in Tekken 8. If falling into big pits indoors counts, then T5 also has Kuma's and (debatably) Panda's endings.

I prefer both takes and consider both having a layer of truth. Sure the Tragic Villain front came from 'left field' but let's consider that HEIHACHI was the one telling the story. It does not change the fact that his twisted logic said 'Imma toss my son OFF A CLIFF'. Whether because 'I will see how worthy you are' or 'I gots to be sure he isn't a Devil' which would have yielded a DEAD SON if Kazuya didn't have the Gene... He's still evil but after all the shit that went through he was looking back and kicking himself...albeit believing he should have just DIRECTLY killed his son instead of letting sentimentality rule his heart.
