Late 90’s-early 2000’s was the peak for me when playing EA NASCAR games. I remember my mind being blown finally having the Daytona 500 and a 43 car field in back-to-back games.

Thunder 2004 was the last good NASCAR game. 2005 was good, but the career in 2004 was just too good

You can really see the quality of the EA titles drop after a certain point. Same the the Activision/Eutechnyx titles. Then we end up where we are now with some of the worst licensed games in recent memory. Such a roller coaster, but hopefully we'll get something worthwhile in the near future.

Those Eutechnyx were some of the worst but I've heard Nascar Ignition is pretty bad. Atleast the Heat series actually progressed.

NR2003, when graphics are edited (especially with ReShade), it can look just as nice as modern games, and sometimes better! It's the most realistic offline racing I've experienced. Play it often!

To think it was the early 2000s that had the best Nascar sim games is beyond crazy. No modern Nascar sim game has come close to replicating the realism that Papyrus did way back then.

Nascar 09 was the first game I ever played online. It was addicting. I eventually joined a league, learned, got better, and I played it until the servers shut down. Still to this day the best console Nascar online experience I've ever had.

NASCAR 98. The only licensed song in the whole game is Molly hatchets flirting with disaster it played in every loading screen every menu every race the same song over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. But I think it's the only NASCAR game that had motegi and Suzuka east has tracks on it.

The first NASCAR game I ever played was NASCAR 99 on N64. After that, I played NASCAR 2000, then found the NASCAR Thunder series and played 01, 02, 03, 04, then NASCAR 06 and 07. The last NASCAR game I played was NASCAR 2011, and I haven't played any since. Lots of fond memories playing all of those games back in the days though.

Thunder 2003, Inside Line, and Heat 4 are the most flawless looking clips in the video. Everyone just captures footage differently, so they wind up putting out footage with bad picture settings.

This. This is the kind of content KZbin was made for 👏🏼 As a side note I love NASCAR Thunder 2004/2004 as much as the next guy but 05 chase for the cup was right up there in my opinion. Had all the series even trucks and the modifieds which I think was new or at least a fairly new feature, the "intimidate" VS draft feature was excellent and something I really wish they would bring back, plus those little mini races against your rivals with the street cars/tracks were awesome

Also learned about nr2003 around the same time I played 09. I played the demo for months on my old PC, learned how to download the full game, and played the crap out of that when I wanted to race offline, modded the hell out of it and got a whooping like 15fps but I didn't even care. That game was iconic and I believe around 07-09 it had peaked in terms of community

I found a 2007 mod for NR03 that uses the truck physics with the horsepower of the cup cars and less downforce. Hands down the best thing I’ve ever driven for a nascar sim. You have to crank wheel into it, the car doesn’t drive like a go kart, and throttling up doesn’t give it more grip like it does with the original physics. Absolutely amazing!

Nascar Thunder 2004 and Dirt to Daytona had career modes that nobody has topped to this day in a Nascar game Dirt to Daytona felt like an actual sim on PS2, plus the opponents not being glued to the track was something nobody else ever topped on consoles

Nascar 2001 ps2 Daytona my favorite Daytona due to how wide it is and has fantasy tracks feel on arcade mode with legend difficulty I wish nascar 2001 ps2 version had fantasy tracks which would’ve made it one of best arcade racing games ever if it wasn’t a transition game and had more time to develop

@@k3nnyisaw3som3 The 2009 season was special to me. It was the season where I finally got hooked into NASCAR for good. Specifically it was the finish of the coke zero 400. I'll never forget it. There have certainly been way worse seasons IMO and those worse seasons have gotten nascar games. The way I see NASCAR games is almost like a snapshot in time. But we never got that for the 2009 season. I understand the reason why though. It was between the EA and eutechnics era and they wouldn't have had the game ready in time.

What I mean by this is if you took the 2012 game and reskinned the game and adjusted a few things for the 2021 or 2022 season, it would be a better game than Ignition.

It was that time when NASCAR allowed licensing on multiple developers until 2004 when NASCAR gave the exclusive license to EA, which led the other two devs stopped developing. The one went bankrupt, but later regroup into “iRacing.com”

You actually could run 5 wide throughout Daytona, however it would be a wreck waiting to happen. Daytona's track is 5 lanes wide except for the tri-oval which bottlenecks into 4 lanes. 5 wide is possible, but unlikely and not advisable for obvious reasons
