I'm always very glad Mario 64 existed, but since their release, I always felt like 3D Land and 3D world were the natural progression from 2D to 3D. I realized those are along the lines of what I thought 64 would be before I played it. The 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc. games are something else entirely.

the reason why Super Mario 64 was the way it was was mainly system limitations. They couldn't make alot of levels and they found out that exploring the World was more fun than getting to the end of a level. And they were absolutely spot on.

Paper Mario technically doesn't have levels. It has chapters and the first is the Prologue and there really is no action in it except 1 fight where you HAVE to lose. No one wants to see that.

I feel like I'm having some form of a Mandela Effect. I've played Super Mario All-Stars before...but I swear they NEVER looked that good for me. All I remember All-Stars being was a compilation cartridge of the first three games and the Lost Levels...playing and looking exactly the same from NES. Not full on remakes that improved the graphics that much. All-Stars was also the first time I ever played Super Mario 2...and it most definitely looked like the original and not what this shows.
