Yeah...the whole late romantic period is represented by...chopsticks???
@TonyDeSareMusic3 жыл бұрын
A classical piano evolution would be a whole other animal. The point was to stick to the most absolute well known piano pieces that everyone has heard at some point, making even Chopin or Debussy too obscure.
@bakuto.10553 жыл бұрын
@@TonyDeSareMusic thats funny, even though you play some pieces which I have never heard of, a pianist for almost 10 years now, yet claim chopin to be too obscure lol

@stalkerstomper33044 жыл бұрын
Funny how all of the classical pieces were some of the easier ones, and also how only a few seconds of each were performed... yet it was a Broadway show production for the contemporary pieces lol. I guess we know where their strengths are and aren't. Acceptable in any case.

I'm not sure people quite understand the little witticism of including that fragment of Ernest Gold's Oscar winning theme for 'Exodus' - it's not that Gold's theme was a notable composition specifically for piano, its that the popular/populist piano team of Ferrante & Teicher - who were HUGE in the late 50s and early 60s (so much so that they were probably the last time that 'classical' piano playing was listened to as popular music) and known for their dual (and often a little florid) interpretations of various genres of music brought the theme from 'Exodus' to the Billboard #2 spot in 1961.

Why there are no romantic era, and more on 20th and 21st century music? Feels like evolution of 20th and 21st century music tho
@rebeccaklempner96663 жыл бұрын
So much fun, but why no Chopin? No Liszt? No Satie?
@TonyDeSareMusic3 жыл бұрын
Would have loved to include those. The main rule for this was pieces that absolutely everyone has heard and is familiar with. So Liszt and Chopin were to obscure. Also we needed this not to be an hour long. We actually cut out three minutes of the first draft of it and lost some good songs.
@richardwebb23483 жыл бұрын
There is no description of the 'evolution' of the piano from its origins in Italy c.1700 - just lots of music played on 20th century pianos!! Clickbait.

Autumn leaves Ft. Liszt

More likely it's Chopin autumn leaves, this passage is from one of etudes op25

@@karolzajac8139 It's based on the Roger Williams version which was a big pop hit.
@BethanyLowe87734 жыл бұрын
Great stuff, but the notion of 'evolution' is out-of-place here, since it applies that Mozart and Beethoven were some primitive forerunner of Tin Pan Alley and chart pop.

Evolution of Piano - no Chopin ????? I beg your pardon ??
@karolzajac81393 жыл бұрын
Chopin was quoted in autumn leaves
@TheAlexblanzat3 жыл бұрын
@@karolzajac8139 not enough !! Sorry but this video without Chopin as such has no value. What would be evolution of sculpture without Rodin, of painting without Monet, of violin without Paganini, of Opera without Mozart. I am so surprised that you give so little space to such a revolutionnary artist in piano evolution. What a total misconception. Please study Chopin influce in technique, melody, he invented today's piano we still live with.
@karolzajac81393 жыл бұрын
@@TheAlexblanzat i know right. I also think that Chopin had to be there. Never the less I wanted to point out this easteregg. This video is not educational but rather entertaining.
