I had the 4 REV model, went from a 1997 mxz 670 to my 2004 800 Renegade X and that was a huge difference, later got a 2009 mxz 600 ETC for my daughter it was an other improvement but it was the Adrenaline and it has cheap shocks. Next I got a 2015 800 etec Renedage XRS and man the shocks make a huge difference in riding fatigue and speed you can carry in rough condition and corners. This summer I gave my 2015 XRS to the wife and got a new 2020 850 Backcountry XRS 146. Can't wait to try it, better engine, P drive clutch. If there is one thing that I have learned over the years, suspension tuning make a huge difference, even if you buy a base model and then improve the shocks/springs.

Channel / video surfing & seen you're video. I've just recently (2wks ago ) aquired an 08 XP MXZ TNT 500SS , 2900mi . Yes a bit of an older sled by today standards , but a supreme upgrade for myself . Banging around in the conventional platforms of previous years is absolutely NO comparison . Wished I would have switched years ago ! To me ...this XP is a Cadillac ! The 2000 S-chassis Formula DLX 500 will stay stabiled until my 9yr old is able to pilot it . Machine is showroom condition w only 1,200mi. Impressive power for a 500 !

Yesss, still have a Yamaha enticer 340 to get fire wood and ice fish. Those old Yamahas are bulletproof, also have 2 1989 yamaha bravo 250, my parents brought brand new and can't bring myself to get rid of them. For weekends though - 2003 ski doo REV MXZ-X 600H.O. and 2008 ski doo XP MXZ-X 800. Both have about 4000 miles. The 600 was more then enough sled for me and I been riding for over 20 years, was looking for a sled for my wife and couldn't find anything in really good shape 600 and smaller so finally I came across the 800xp and was like brand new and seller didn't know it was a Xpackage so it kind of fell in my lap and the wife got the 600ho. Both great sleds. Snowmobiles have come further in the last 20 years then it did in the previous 75 years plus. Couple people we ride with have 2018, 2021 and they are incredible don't get me wrong but just like vehicles more and more gadgets and extras which is more and more to break. I rember when plastic skis started coming out and it was the best thing in snowmobiling, that was like less then 10 years before the first gen REV. Leaps and bounds esp 2000-2010.

I currently have a XS & the Gen4 chassis. ‘18 Renegade X 600 etec & ‘20 Renegade XRS 900 turbo. I’ve owned each version of skidoo dating back to the F chassis with a ‘97 Mach Z, then a 2000 MXZ 700 twin. Once Skidoo introduced the ‘03 Rev beaver tail chassis that was a major game changer in ride quality and handling. That chassis literally made good riders, “great riders”.. What’s funny, once I started riding the XP, XS or Gen4 chassis then jump back on my buddies original Rev. I was like HTH did I ever ride this sled because of how restricted your leg position is.. don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good sled. It just limits your seating position and makes it hard to stretch out a little when your legs feel cramped up.

It should be noted the original 2003 Rev had a beaver tail and no room for the jerry can that the 2004 could use. It's design had the riders feet/legs behind the hips like a crotch rocket bike and took some time to get used to. The 2008 XP moved the driven clutch 8" up allowing more room forward for the feet and was much more comfortable. Also in 2009 the XR chassis came out with a much better and stronger bulkhead, wider and much different body panels. I have one for my 2012 1200 and it's still going strong with 25KM on it. They had 2 different gauges from 2008 to 2020, only the high end models got the digital (nicer) gauge. The XP & XS still had a brittle bulkhead and the G4 was slightly better with a cast design.

@@mudbrats The difference is the track length being longer at 129. You just notice it a touch more in the tight turns verses the 06 Rev.(120" XP chassis is better than the Rev) Believe me the 16 is just fine. My buddy has a 2017 Freeride 800 that he says is a Gen 4 but it shows up as an Rev XM which I didn't hear you talking about. I know 2017 - 2018 was the year, depending on model that the Gen 4's came out but I am pretty sure his Freeride is based off an XS platform. My wife has a 2017 MXZ X 850 Gen4 and I have a 2018 MXZ X 850 Gen4, although hers has the upgraded suspension. I just never hear anyone talk about the Rev XM's?
@mudbrats3 жыл бұрын
The XM is the mountain series. 2017 is the same as the XS in this video, just a narrower ski stance, better shock package, different skid and sometimes longer skid. The only big bore they put in the gen4 is an 850 so that tells you right there that his being an 800 is the gen3 (XS/XM)

its a nickname that just took off like wildfire. If you turn the module upside down it looks like a Nuns hat. there was a show on TV starring Sally Field called the Flying Nun and it looks like her hat so it started out being nicknamed the Flying Nun and has since dropped to just Nun. Pretty funny origins, i actually heard that years ago but just now looked it up to be sure

Could I put a rev gen 4 suspension on a 2009 summit 800r?
@mudbrats4 жыл бұрын
Anything is possible with the right tools - the only thing you would have to check is tunnel width - if Gen4 is narrower it would be a little trickier. I put a 129 rmotion in a 2009 600etec 120” mxzx - so anything is possible
@jimhebert95163 жыл бұрын
Few years ago I took my 2008 summit and added everything that basically made it a 2015. Flex edge track, t-motion suspension, 36 inch front end with new spindles, etc etc. Huge difference! When I did it ski-doo sold everything to do the conversion. Last year I bought a new summit with expert package and yes, I agree with Mud Brats ADV, the Gen4 chassis is another level again. Especially with the expert package.

A lot of changes up front - and if you XP has SC-5 and the XS has R-motion - thats a huge leap in suspension!

So far I'm not impressed with the new G4 chassis. I have some seat time on a 18 XRS 850 and as long as you don't turn it's fine.lol The 18's are the tallest XRS models to date. They have dropped them down a bit but the sled is so tippy. My 16 XS chassis drives flat and predictable. Hoping the 21's and up are better. Due for an upgrade for 22 or 23 or put a rebuild motor in my 16.
@mudbrats4 жыл бұрын
the nice thing about a 2018 XRS is its so adjustable - you can make it “less tippy” more confidence inspiring if you spend some time adjusting the suspension for your weight, riding style and riding conditions. Thanks for watching and the comment - keep me posted on what you decide
@robertreinhart75574 жыл бұрын
@@mudbrats Yes my buddy has since stiffened up everything in the front end. The thing is All the new sleds are so tall. As my riding group are all upgrading these past 5 years it's the first thing we notice. Our driving styles had to change a bit. Sure the overall ride is better, economy and more but we did loose a bit of confidence in the turns. Depends how you ride.... Small sacrifice in the end!

If your shock is closer to front or back of control arm DOESNT mean the nun is bent
@mudbrats4 жыл бұрын
The shock should be the same spot on both sides of the A-Arms... If its forward or back (I have seen the shock touching the A-Arm) she's FUBAR
@krankysledzz4 жыл бұрын
Mud Brats ADV I guess you’ve never heard of twisting a control arm have you. ? Doo made it so control arms will bend , fold or twist before the nun will be effected. Mite wanna do your homework before saying stuff like that.
@mudbrats4 жыл бұрын
Good point, but I do know from experience on several REVs, the pop-can aluminum Nun will bend before an anodized aluminum control arm will twist. Yes I have seen bent A-Arms so you ar ecorrect, but its only around 10%. The other 90% or more are Trashed Nuns. The F and S chassis were actually a better design as the trailing arms on that design was actually meant to crush before anything else. And it worked.

The only thing that has evolved is the motors and body. What about the drive system? Why are the manufactures still using a clutch and belt in order to get power to the track? I think this system is outdated and unreliable. Who hasn't blown a belt miles from home and needed a tow? You think the designers would come up with a transmission that doesn't use a belt, which by the way costs up to $200 and usually only lasts a season. With all the CVT technology out there you think they would come up with something better.
@mudbrats3 жыл бұрын
Even CVT uses a belt on the canam ATVs... Its a weight savings issue likely that they dont use a gearbox. Major improvements in clutching from the 2016 TRA clutch to the 2017-current P-Drive Clutch.
