He’s still underused. If you don’t understand, read the comment near the top explaining it. It means that the character is featured in only a few versions of Mario kart. So unique characters would be a better term for it

There's a glitch where multiple people can use the same character in offline multiplayer. All you need to do is select the character, unselect, and have everyone else do the same. Press B to go back one menu and then reselect the category you were going to race. Everyone should be hovering over Funky Kong and everyone can select him.

Personally, my favorite character is Lakitu! In the games before him, I normally use Dry Bones. If Dry Bones doesn’t exist as a driver yet (aka pre-Mario Kart DS) I’ll pick whatever a feel like. I also normally use Pac-Man in the arcade games.

I stay with Birdo, for other characters - I don't mind Paratroopa as a standalone driver, even he/she could a wing suit for regular Koopa Troopa - Donkey Kong Jr. as being an old series character might not return, if he does the fans may celebrate a Grand Return of him (can count on any character that only appeared on an old game) - Petey Piranha was insane in Double Dash with ability to use any other special item as he and King Boo didn't own their "ultimate". - For Funky Kong I can take joke of DK part of roster, I wouldn't mind Kremlings to debut in Mario Kart series as guests - I would like to try out Gold Mario, but he is only available in Coin Rush in Mario Kart Tour - I feel little surprised the High-End class is dominated by alternations of certain Super-Class characters

Underused Double Dash characters (Birdo and Paratroopa) are my main team. The egg and triple red shells are really dirty. In MK7 the most time i played online, was with Queen Honey and Wiggler (meanwhile, most players always select 5 or 6 Metal Marios).
