The best one was between 1997 and 2012. If you compare it closely to the current one, you'll notice that they got rid of the second "boom-boom" for some reason, which was a mistake in my opinion. The theme lost in epicness a bit and doesn't sound as satisfying. Like you can feel it's missing something. Second "boom-boom", that's what. 🥲

I always loved the 1990-1997 theme from movies I watched on VHS growing up, maybe it's not as triumphant and cathartic as the post-1997 theme but it still sounds gorgeous and elegant in its own right.

Because the logo and graphics changed and the camera started at the top and then the ground was glowing. In 1989 the logo was far from the earth and 1997 was near.

@@omarthehedgehog2010 There's a pretty decent mini documentary on how they made the old HBO Feature Presentation opening. These old intros used the same method. Googling for documentaries on how they filmed the original Star Wars trilogy or the original Star Trek Series should also give you a good idea. Making movies and special effects wa a completely different art form back in the day and involved lots of modelling of the physical sort.

It's good, but slightly too lyrical for my taste. Lacks a certain bombastic punch. My favorite would be a combination of 1997-2012 (second "boom-boom" needs to return, I miss it) and modern version (choir at the end is a good addition, only they need to balance it higher in the mix, right now it's a bit too quiet).

The new movie "Knock at the Cabin" uses the 1960-1987 version of the intro, with "A Comcast Company" at the bottom of screen. This was apparently done at the request of M Night Shyamalan.

1990's 75th anniversary version is _definitely_ the best. I always associate it with Back to the Future Part III. I love the idea of running through several of the older versions while a lone horn plays the theme alongside some tinkly chimes before building into the full orchestral version. They clearly attempted to recreate that with some of their subsequent versions, particularly the centennial one with its larger orchestra, but it doesn't quite hit the same.

The 1935-1948, 1948-1962, and 1962-1990 logos are common for me (even though I was born in 1999) because I watched a bunch of old Woody Woodpecker cartoons on MeTV's Saturday Morning Cartoons block and MeTV Toons. Not only did they use these logos for Woody Woodpecker, but also for other Walter Lantz cartoons like Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, and The Beary Family.

1991-1997 stuck more to me, personally. I watched a lot more universal movies from that era when i was younger. I did see a few from the 1997-2012 era but I got uninterested after the 2013 version. Not even as a 6 year old (how old i was at the time) did i really like it. But hey, it could just be nostalgia holding me back from seeing its potential.

In the time from 1997 - 2012 there is no sun and the continents illuminate themselves. In 2012 - now the sun moves behind the earth and therefore the continents start to shine. There are also small differences in the colors and the movement to the distance from the earth
