As much as I love Wario as the star of his own games, I'd LOVE to see another Mario game where he's the primary antagonist. Crazy that Nintendo just keeps recycling Bowser in every game. I'd also like to see the "Land" and "Ware" universes combined, as the ware games have much richer cast of characters and settings than the generic pyramids and such that Wario finds himself in in the Land games. Of course, I wasn't aware the games were poor sellers, so this is unlikely to happen.

Given the time the character was created, I can’t help but think Wario was also partially inspired by Odlaw, who had been added to the Where’s Waldo universe a year or two before. I assume by that time the books were making it to Japan relatively quickly. If nothing else, it seems likely that someone at NCL/NOA was familiar with it.

Wario and Waluigi are sort of exaggerated versions of Mario and Luigi respectively. Mario is a little overweight and a bit strong, whereas Wario is very muscular and obese. Luigi is tall and skinnier than Mario, so Waluigi is very tall and lanky.
