Microsoft originally made the OG Duke controller as they called it in 2001 that launched in America because the controller they figured Americans had bigger hands. They figured we as an American market. Microsoft said hey let’s give the Americans a big tough American controller. Well nobody liked it, so we got the Japanese release version of the controller in America later which is the one that you see later on the one that was used for the rest of the original Xbox lifespan was the Japaneseversion that was still manufactured by Microsoft which is an American company

xbox 360 2010 edition is what I have and I have played on every other xbox and I can say that xbox 360 is the best xbox controller. Tbh playstation has some good controllers except for when I use a ps 3, ps 2, or ps 1 I dont like how it feels like the controller could come apart at any moment.
