I love how you hate cutting metal with it - it's the sole reason why I ordered mine. Unfortunately, it won't be available here (NL) until January 10th, but thank you very much for this review, and even more thanks for the separate setup video! I didn't even realize that it could be adjusted to get more accurate angles, so brilliant work :)

Thanks for such a fine comment RJ :-) I think this is a good machine, worth the wait. For metal work it will save loads of time! I still hate cutting metal with it!!

Does it only cut at those preset angles? Or can I adjust to whatever angle I want?

Another nice video demonstrating the performance of the evolution 210cms saw. I note in the description link you reference another blade option that has more teeth presumably for precision wood cutting. In your opinion is this necessary for most general home DIY tasks. I'm not looking to cut anything other than timber. Thanks.
@RussellPlatten3 жыл бұрын
The Saxton blade does give a better cut Allan, but the multi-purpose blade is fine for most situations. I would try the supplied blade on some scrap wood and if you are not happy, go for the Saxton or the Evolution Wood blade. :-)

Very nice indeed, but what about the life of the blade? especially when it comes co cutting steel like 2mm tubing and stuff like that. Thanks
@RussellPlatten7 жыл бұрын
The blade does not seem to be affected by cutting metal in any way Simon. I have not used it for cutting lots of metal, but I have cut metal with it on a few occasions. One time to cut 40mm box section (3 cuts), thin mild steel angle 25mm (8 cuts) and 4 cuts on 6mm round bar as well as the cuts in the review video. It still cuts wood without any issue. The other thing to take into account is the price of a replacement blade, £26.99 from Screwfix at the moment, so it is not particularly expensive. I have seen other reviews where the blades are used to cut a lot of steel and the reviewers have been impressed by the longevity of them. I hope this helps. :-)

hi there, did you ever check the angle of the 4mm metal after cutting it?? i have seen fibre blades buckle and give cuts that veer off centre. Looking for a semi-decent chop saw that ill only use to cut metal mostly, wood occasionally and sit on a shelf for periods in between, thanks in advance for feedback. great video.
@RussellPlatten7 жыл бұрын
The saw would be ideal for what you want. It cuts square and it leaves the cut cool so you can handle it straight away. Alternating between metal and wood is not an issue.

Thanks for the review, I' m not sure, I think the body is aluminium anodized not plastic isn't it?

buying one now, what size was that metal box section you cut?
@RussellPlatten8 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, it is mild steel, 4mm thick, 50mm x 50mm. If you get this saw, look at Evolution Power Tools video here: facebook.com/evolutiontools/videos/1009835475811191/ to see how to get the best out of your blades. It has some good advice on the best way to cut materials.

cheers fella, i was looking at cutting 40x40 and 3mm so that would e fine for myself, thank you.

when you cut the box section you placed it on a flat side but according to the video it should be cut like a diamond, to be honest i disagree with that part of the video.
@RussellPlatten8 жыл бұрын
+dave dave The Evolution video shows the best way to cut materials to prolong the life of your blade. For me, it is not an issue as I will not be using mine for metal work. You should cut it which ever way you feel most comfortable with. The blades are not particularly expensive. It cuts through mild steel very easily, way better than an abrasive disc.

clamp it down . dont hold it by hand use a clamp provided as my mate had a large bit of wood hit in . . even worst with steel . your not showing safety . you are risking injury . not the brightest candle in the church
