Hello! Thanks for the video. Can you please also make a short video clip how the lights works during daytime, please?
@jrb73711 ай бұрын
Hello, how are your lights holding up? I've gone thru 2 sets after barely even using them. The left side light on both sets either stops working or only partially works. Meaning it will come on w/ headlights, but not the blinker or brakes. I had U-haul test my connection and it is fine. The lights worked great when I installed them.

Thank you for being considerate to your fellow drivers! I see so many people with bike racks with the bikes blocking their signals, driving down the interstate without a clue nobody can see them or their signals. Not to mention the trailer, oh gosh the trailers where they can’t spend 30 seconds doing a simple light check and lights don’t work, partially or at all. Or the one trailer I saw with REVERSED turn signals, when he put on his right turn signal the left trailer signal flashed and vise versa… This is great. I plan to get a bike rack soon and was looking for ideas on lights so I don’t do the same. I’m not a huge fan of how dim the turn/stop is in relation to the running lights on these particular signals, so I’ll look for other ones for myself, but even so it’s 1000% better than the no turn signals I usually see around here.

Thank you soooo much for this! I bought exactly the same light kit in Canada but use 3M dual lock tape instead for even stronger adhesive strength. The CURT 53201 auxiliary led indicator lights kit is a great product that brings no hassles to me who is not a handyman at all. All the cables are long enough for any regular rear bike rack and cargo carrier.

Tom - thanks for this video and answering my question. As it turns out, I had used the exact same product on my Hollywood rack. One thing I would caution about with this product is that because the LEDs draw very little wattage, the wires are incredibly thin. Mine were defective right after I installed them the same way you did. They’re easily pinched when folding the rack etc. I just ordered the same rack you have and will use the same lights again as everything else is too bulky. This time will run the wires through a narrow piece of automotive plastic flex conduit and be careful not to let it get pinched. Your content is great and thank you! Gary

I really like this tail light solution. In California I have been pulled over twice for no tail lights on the bike rack, and also, my license plate on my Ram Promaster conversion van is covered up by my bikes, and the last officer reminded me that when I moved my plate I needed to make certain it also has a light. So....until I figure this out, I am not able to take my e-bike out on my van...frustrating....I dont know why they do not put these required items on these expensive bike racks in the first place.

How did you secure the wires on the rack?Or did you just remove them after each use?
@swizzzlestik6 ай бұрын
@evolutionarytom Thanks for the video Tom, this is exactly what i was looking for. How well does the velcro tape stick over time with the elements? I'm looking to use this both when the rack is up and when it's loaded with bikes and velcro strips at different locations using the same light bars are exactly what I was looking for.
@evolutionaryTom6 ай бұрын
The velcro has held up really well. Recently I did a video on another light bar and I think it can be adapted to the Thule rack in the same manner, with the velcro. It is very bright and easy to see in the daylight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGKkfZKhjM9pn8U Both are better options than no lights at all, for sure. Thanks for the nice comment. -Tom
@swizzzlestik6 ай бұрын
@@evolutionaryTom Thanks for that link and video. I am weighing my options now. I have a Saris MHS platform and Saris makes a light bar that is specifically for MHS racks and has a bracket that uses existing bolts and bolt holes to secure light bar to rack and is $40 more than Hollywood. The only downside is the Saris bar can impede your legs a bit while loading on the bikes.

Update on your taillight installation??? Any suggestions or things you might have (or have done) differently?? Great video by the way.... I bought the same rack, and I am going to install the same light as well. Thank you!
@evolutionaryTom2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice comment, Albert. I haven't done anything different, it's still working great as is. The best way to manage the wire is just a zip tie. Since it's not a permanent fixture on my vehicle, taking it on and off should be as easy as possible for me. That's why I just ruin one zip tie at a time with the wire management. -Tom
@justicecenter3 жыл бұрын
Tom how did you end up routing the wires? I have purchased the same lights.
@evolutionaryTom3 жыл бұрын
I used stick on cable routers, the kind you see in the office stores, not the hardware stores. Then I can snap the wire in and out as needed. I route it strait to the plug and the excess I bundle up with a Bongo Tie. Works great. -Tom

I bought this kit from a Canadian website. If you check this product review video by e-trailers on KZbin, he mentions the harness is 71-inch long, and left/right module is 22-inch long. To me that's pretty long enough for a Thule T2 Pro XT 2-bike setup.

The wire from the 4-pin flat connector out to the splitter is 71". Each of the lights has another 22" of wire. Image #2 on the Amazon product page gives the details. If you need extra reach, you can buy an extension cable for the 4-pin connector.
