I like how Megalodon has a head more like a bull shark, and a little ‘racing stripe’ on the side like the common blacktip. They used a bunch of different sharks as inspiration for the meg, and I love that!

Ok ok I guess the initial angle for the pack would have been to have Hatzegopteryx instead of Thanatosdrakon. When the trailer aired I initially assumed that it *was* Hatzegopteryx. But I can see the thought process behinds the change: -First, they want an kind of realistic looking Azhdarchid to pair with the film Quetz, which isn't as accurate and has like a 20m wingspan. -Hatzegopteryx thambema is famed for being on par with real life Quetzalcoatlus nothropi in terms of size, if a little smaller and a little stockier. -A potential game Hatz would therefore be either A) realistically scaled, with a 10m wingspan, or B) scaled to the film Quetz, with a ~20m wingspan. -Both A and B have problems. Option A gives you a underwhelming bodysize when compared to the Quetz, making "The Terror of Hateg Island" feel kinda puny and 'uncool', but option B gives you essentially a palaeoaccurate Quetz clone, which is also kinda underwhelming for what feels like the last JWE2 DLC. -Given that we want a cool realistic azhdarchid that feels like it contributes meaningfully to the roster, it seems best to give Hatz a wide berth because of these issues. -This leaves us with the rest of Azhdarchidae, of which there are like 20ish. We still want a big one, so that it can stand up against the likes of Tropeognathus and Pteranodon, but not a giant that might run into the same size problem as Hatzegopteryx, ruling out stuff like Arambourgiania at one end and Azhdarcho and Phosphatodraco at the other; ideally we're looking for a wingspan of 8-9m. -Thanatosdrakon and Cryodrakon are the primary candidates here I think, they fit the bill of big but not too big. And I think Thanatosdrakon is the pick to make here, to make the game slightly less americacentric. This is something all dinosaur media should keep in mind ideally, given that many of the famous prehistoric creatures are from North America and other continents, particularly the southern continents, become underrepresented. Thanatosdrakon helps expand JWE2's South American roster, which is in much more need of expansion than it's northern neighbour's.

This is great because with Segisaurus, we now have all 15 species meant for the original Jurassic Park. With Microceratus, we now have 12/15 species from the novel. The only ones left are Hadrosaurus, Othneilia, and Procompsognathus.

know what's funny i did ask for Cryodrakon, so not far off! XD But they could have plans for Hatzegopteryx so they don't want to add a potential spoiler or a not-movie inaccurate one to the game (like Giga) so we got another large Azhdarchid instead. I'm interested in this pack either way and I hope we get some really unique animation for our large shark. Also, megalodon is not thought of anymore as being closely related to white sharks instead belonging to Otodontidae sharks. I know this is still a common mistake people make so I thought to inform you a little bit. keep up the great work and love all you're parks and tours

I like the pack overall but thanatosdrakon is noticeably small. It should be about Quetzacoatlus size, but it’s noticeably smaller than that.

I think the reason why frontier chose thanatosdrakon instead of Hatzegopterx is because the Hatzeg would have to compete with the quetz for "giant pterosaur" and using a smaller but similar looking pterosaur makes sense to avoid the quetz getting overshadowed.

Some thanatosdrakon facts since nobody knows what it is. Name means dragon of death, known from two well-preserved specimens in 2018 and it is the largest pterosaur from South America. Looks fantastic too!

Meg is definitely the selling point for me here and ending the last DLC with microceratus is definitely a right move that I very much appreciated. also, another feathered pteranodon is always a welcome addition considering we only have two so far with jeholopterus and quatzalcoatlus and I don't think adding smilodon is truly necessary for a game revolving around dinosaurs considering we already have lystrosaurus, dimetrodon, megalodon, and the dunk for variations outside of dinosaur and prehistoric reptile. Hopefully, in JWE3 or the next game, they will have a pack revolving around mesozoic animals and even allowed us to breed them like in Zoo Tycoon 2.

Thanatosdrakon is quite similar to Hatzgoptyeryx, they're both giant, stocky pterosaurs, to the point where you could basically slap the name "Hatzgopteryx" into that same design and no one would notice, so getting Thanato makes me equally happy, in fact my might even prefer it since it adds more South America representation which the game really lacks + i always love seeing obscure, recently described species getting the spotlight.

I think the Thanatosdracon was added to this dlc because people asked for Hatzegopteryx, which is the same azhdarchid, just about the same size as quetzalcoatl. Thanatosdracon is similar to Hatzegopteryx, but differs from Quetz in its size, making it just as unique

I feel a little bummed out about Smilodon, but hopefully, we're on the road to its possible inclusion in the third game. I don't particularly like Microceratus and Segisaurus because they're basically just a smaller Coelophysis and Homalocephale. On the bright side, we have another Jurassic dinosaur that's nice. I'll buy this for the Meg and the Azhdarchid, but I'm rarely ever gonna use Microceratus or Segisaurus, especially since Homalocephale and Coelophysis exist. And look at that, a free update to play around with this time around.

I looked through every list I could find, and literally the only dinosaurs that appear by name and appearance in any Jurassic media that we're missing are Othelia, Hypsilophodont, and Hadrosaurus. All three are from the novels, and two of them got renamed and aren't even called that anymore, so it's not likely they show up. Props to Frontier for going the extra mile and including it all!

The only major dinosaurs we're missing I can think of are Argentinosaurus (the most famous 'largest dinosaur ever'), Plateosaurus (most famous Sauropodmorpha (a group with no rep in game) and long thought to be the largest Triassic dinosaur), Protoceratops (famous from it's 'death duel' fossil with Velociraptor and probably about Minmi's size), and Archaopteryx (the first and most famous avian dinosaur.)

The wait is over. Microceratus is here. Really happy to see some of the species people been wanting in the game. It does feel like a farewell DLC and that's completely fine. I have no complaints whatsoever. That being said, I've seen a lot of talk about JWE3 and I wanted to repeat what I had said in a community post for TheGamingBeaver. So here's my take: I don't think a JWE3 is really necessary. Don't get me wrong, I would be interested in it. But I've kinda grown tired of the whole park building aspect of the Jurassic franchise. This is coming from someone who grew up with the Jurassic Park games from Ocean Software on the NES and SNES so my bias is more towards the survival aspect. Seeing Jurassic Park Survival announced was really what I've been wanting in the franchise for a long time. Granted, I'm more into the Open World aspect of a Dinosaur Survival Horror Game nowadays with the only goal to just survive but I won't complain about a story for the game, especially since it's after the events of the first film. My point is that I don't think there is a need of a JWE3. If people want it because it makes them happy, then so be it.

My beloved Microceratus 😭❤ I loved it, and I loved the Segisaurus, now I can sell my renamed Coelophisys from my Jurassic Park recreation. The only thing I miss is the river cruise, I hope this isn't the last dlc and we will get this attraction

Honestly, if this is the farewell DLC I’m honestly fine with it. I regret not getting Hatzegopteryx but it is what it is. I can’t wait to finally install the 60+ mod list I downloaded these years. Plus, this means that modding community will finally be able to work on the mods without the need to update them.

Definitely this is the definition of " good fanservice ", like let's be real, Almost EVERYONE wanted to see the Meg in the game , and the kelp is also quite a nice addition to make some " temperate ocean biomes" ! ( The other species in the pack are rather fine in my opinion, but I'm sure that a lot of people actually wanted to see the Microceratus, while the Thanastodrakon I guess it's basically the " cheaper but more original Hatzegopteryx " I'll say? ) Edit: About the Segisaurus, I'm definitely surprised about it though!

It might be a hybrid, but as a ceratopsian of sorts, let's not pretend that the Spinoceratops doesn't have amazing skins and patterns too. I imagine the new Microceratus will look fun alongside them. While the upcoming new decorations (especially kelp) are really exciting, there's still a lot more I wish they could have or will do before ending support and moving completely onto the next game, such as JP Triceratops variant (and the Dominion Parasaurolophus and feathered T. rex), multiple dig teams/expeditions, pterosaur social animations, if not more. Edit: Oh yeah, how could I forget to say that I'm glad you got your wish with that light decoration Evo. I'm looking forward to trying that out too. With news of JWE3 (or something Jurassic) planned for next year, I really hope they take things into account like deeper water/swimming, babies, pterosaurs walking, sauropods able to fight back, river ride (and other attractions), caves, waterfalls, bridges, and other highly requested features the community has been wanting for some time. Otherwise I'm not really sure what else they could differently to attract to me to a third game, that the second one hasn't already done for the most part.

One hope i have is that even if this is the last DLC and that this free update is small, i hope we get some small updates for fans, such as: Be able to continue the Dominion and Main Campaign's just to have fun, to be able to pick a couple islands that you can travel to in 1 save file, and have the species viwer available is the hatcheries.

I give this pack a 5/5! Though the nature of the dlc pack makes me wonder if it really IS the last pack. If it is, I say this game had a GOOD, LONG RUN. Maybe the Cenozoic pack(s) could be a main selling point of Evo 3. Edit: This may be a good thing in the long run! Because given we're getting Chaos Theory later this year and the new movie next year, it lines up with Evo 3 for the new packs as well, since each game's release follows in line with a film release.

Thanatodrakon! A lesser known Azhdarchid with an awesome name! I actually get why they went with this instead of Hatzegopteryx. It's smaller and more distinct from Quetzalcoatlus I think, more interesting. Plus, Hatzegopteryx is a bigger name pterasaur that they may be saving for the 3rd game. On another note, I love its more fossil accurate head and beak shape! ^-^

i'm hyped as heck! megalodon looks amazing and im really surprised by the thanatosdrakon in a very pleasant way. It's a bit left field but that's what i like about it and they look amazing! I'm not the biggest fan of the smaller dinosaurs, but microceratus looks adorable

I like the thanatosdrakon. I didn't even know this was discovered a few years ago. We're all kind of feeling this might be it, but this gives an opportunity to bring in Cenozoic animals, full force for the third game instead of just bringing some one at a time. I'd personally like them to do a 50/50 scenario like Prehistoric Kingdom. I think this also gives them the opportunity to work on pterosaur socializing and walking, maybe swimming dinosaurs and crocodilian-like animals instead of putting them in a lagoon. Not to mention it'll give time to see what Chaos Theory brings then we can get a nice pack for that with the likes of Becklespinax and the show's designs for Suchomimus and Pachyrhinosaurus. Or who knows, maybe we'll get them at launch and maybe new designs for the Diplodocus and Mamenchisaurus, especially Parasaurolophus 2022. I didn't forget animals from older periods like the Permian era. I'll wait to see if they add Carboniferous animals.

They need to make lots of just dino packs. There were so MANY dinosaurs back then!! Exciting ones like Argentinosaurus, or Lambeosaurus (one of my favorites). They would definitely release packs with 5-6 dinosaurs to give more variety in the game. Would buy all of them
