If Wisp had mined out all the obsidian from the portal, maybe he could've bought time, or found an infinity stone & gauntlet of his own. The reality stone in the nether to duplicate obsidian that might be found in the chests wouldve been an issue though.

If I remember correctly, only one set of the infinity gauntlet and the stones exist at one time in a minecraft world upon generation. There are no duplicates.
