I am so glad that I waited to develop generals. For years I have been playing Offense Only and have recently (now that I am K35) begun gearing up to play Defense (looking to Reinforce). I can now sit down with and plan out which generals, books, and gear to match up to more effectively pair my generals and more efficiently use my limited resources to improve those generals. Then I can train the proper type and number of troops and set up some baller presets. Getting the Rally Spot Duty Officer came just as I was able to upgrade the Rally Spot to 35. Thanks for using Money Ball concepts for your videos. Perhaps I will share a Fantasy Baseball League story where I built a database to seek out the best (not most popular) players per qualified position.

Very good stuff man! I started my Ludwig a while ago and what I did was to balance both attacking and reining out by pairing both Ludwig and Pyhrrus and it works pretty well. Too expensive to start over with a new general. My ground attacks are great and reining is still ok thanks to my Pyrrhus. Factoring in the March and rally size in the choice of general pairing, super important too!

One thing I noticed, at least for monarch gear, is that they use marching for single troop types and attacking for multiple troop types. For example, the thunder dagger buffs marching mounted troops, and the moon dagger buffs attacking siege and ranged troops

Dont like dmitry-he is the reverse! His reinforcing buffs higher than his marching buffs! I prefer someone universal like trajan over him-especially since trajan is in tavern. He’s a “reinforcing” specialist. So-imo-this is why i love uni gens. The uni gens are so much simpler-they are always on, although you give up a little bit of buff to get that. But in the “fog of war” during bf/chalons/allstars, it helps not to have to be distracted with which gen to send.

Thanks for video JW! I also hate the evony wording. My understanding however is that occupying / reinforcing temples and battlefield buildings equal "marching". Hence, my blazons with qualified modifier "marching xxx troop attack/def/hp" should work there right?

What exactly are you asking, in terms of “work”? There is nothing new here except their buffs are substantially stronger than old. The language is very clear, some are universal, some are highly qualified.

That is a GREAT question! That you realize there is a difference at all puts you ahead of the curve! And it depends on what you’re going for! There are two types of troops that do a LOT of reining. There are two that are not used very much. For ME, I did reiner first for the reinforcing type, and qual gen for the main on the other two…

Thanks JW - question: what are your thoughts on Catherine II as a sub gen - her main skill doesn't have any debuffs but her ascension skills seem to contain a lot of siege hp debuffs.. i have been trying to collect copies of her to ascend before actually applying to a sub.

Thats a great look, lets take a closer look. She tops out at roughly 120pct in debuffs (-45%siege hp, -45%siege defense, -35% siege attack). All pretty respectable numbers-but she doesnt have the second spec circle where you get another 40pct, and her 4th circle also doesnt have debuff shere some sub gens give upwards of 40-80pct more debuff). Also, VERY hard to come by nowadays. most solid sub gens top out near 225-275pct of total debuffs or above. So while she does give a specific debuff thats a LOT of shards and boa for a lower pct debuff. A good example is Harald- fully spec’d is 144% in total debuffs for all troops at 5*, 184% at 6*, 204%@7*, 224@8, 264%@9*, and 304%@10. But the siege buffs are less. So probably would be something to consider-but there’s one major prob. I coin quite a bit, and in playing almost two years i think i got her MAYBE once. I missed the bus on her and I dont think it’d be possible to find 15 copies of her!! She’s like Darius! 😂

Yes, the Main not assist. And only the universal or defending buffs. Not marching and not attacking buffs.

I’d prefer you decide what works for you based on your game philosophy and type of troop. What i love about advanced mechanics is that it can give you an edge to offset the coiners’ edge inherent to the game. And by “maximizing” layers-what do you mean?

The dragon attributes and buffs and the beast buffs do not work. However, for some generals, it is required to activate the main skill (or portion of the main skill)

I think the buff of the dragon/beast does not apply when on an assistant, but it does work when "activating" the assistant's main skill if that is a condition.

Exactly. The spirit beast’s attributes dont apply to battle however they do “activate” the generals extra buffs. The best part is if you have an extra spirit beast that is ground for instance and not using as i do, you can use it for a siege gen since you dont care, and only using yo activate. (The original ones without debuffs are good for this). The new ones w debuffs go great on sub gens to jack up those debuffs even further!!!

Interesting - for me I use Ludwig on offense - he's great..oddly he's great for defending a building. I use Skippy/Trajan for reining so it's a wash for me.

"General leading too attack" is what i should not be using for reinforce correct? And your own sub city do not applies?

@@smonthamao2376correct. Any buff listed “to attack” at the end or “marching” is off when reinforcing. The only buffs on when reinforcing are universal buffs, which are “when leading the army” or flatly says “ranged troop attack”; or explicitly says “when reinforcing” (dimitry)

Thats a great question! Both completely valid strategies-but am unsure if reining debuffs do count all the time (i.e. rallies vs solo). However, it is important to note when reining is that the guy you’re reining’s debuffs are already on! So you may be redundant and they may not even count if your ally’s debuffs already maxed out!

Very interesting! Great vid. Just a few questions: 1. Just curious, do you think the extra 100% is material when buffs are in the 3000-4000% range? I find that all the new buffs devalue themselves in a way 2. Do reinforcement buffs really matter, or just the number of rein?

Both excellent questions but i feel lie outside the topic of generals. The 100pct is absolutely material when you consider that at that level they ARENT being debuffed fully. So the whole 100pct is even more likely to apply to the attack sans debuff. This would skew the advantage BACK to percentages away from flats again. 2. I think it completely depends at what level you are playing at. I think they can alter an attack MUCH more so at the extremes of power (small vs small or Big vs Big) because you are saying you know the benefits of layering. Well-THE STRONGER THE TROOPS IN EACH LAYER, THE LONGER THE LAYERS LAST. I actually believe this is one of the biggest determinants of outcomes of rallies at the major league level than anything else!

Thanks! Sorry, I asked because the difference between universal gens was just 50-100%. So was trying to decide if that’s really material considering where buffs are now, and if the buffs are better placed on your attacking gen or rein gen.

Consider this-people spending insane amounts ($2000) for a cake keep with 30pct buffs. And go nuts over a new gen with 15pct more buffs than last one. The answer to that question lies in your type of play. At the very top tier of players 100pct is huge. 3700% buffs vs 3600% buffs plays big. It matters MOST when reinforcing because the debuffs for the defense against attackers are maxed (usually) and the reverse is true-the ralliers bring minimal debuffs against the reinforcers. So you have a magnefying effect on the difference
