I have been lucky enough to see the aurora a total of 4 times thus far, but one in particular sticks with me. Whitehorse, Yukon. Decent KP led to a beautiful twisting arc in the evening, which grew brighter and split into 3 arcs, with white beams ascending to the heavens. A faint purple curtain, sometimes flaring reddish, formed with the white beams. It put on a show for an hour before slowly fading into patches of blue and green. It was simply marvelous to watch it slowly and gracefully walk and dance aming the stars.

I first remember watching this video, which inspired me to go and finally see the northern lights. Two and a half years later, not only have I seen them several times, but the most recent times (last month and yesterday night as of posting), I got to witness absolutely incredible shows, similar to the displays in this video and even stronger, both times caused by G4 (Kp 8) geomagnetic storms. If seeing the northern lights is on your bucket list, go and see them. The first time feels super rewarding and you get hooked on seeing them again.
