Sorry, Ideree. I love your content and appreciate your objectivity on many topics, but I must respectfully disagree with you on this one. Your argument here seems to lean heavily towards a Western capitalist perspective. I know you are a successful philanthropist who supports independent media and businesses, which clearly reflects a capitalist mindset. From an economic perspective, you’re absolutely right-reducing nuclear power plants, having less innovative industries, and imposing high taxes in European economies do put pressure on taxpayers and hinder economic growth. However, from a political perspective, these policies exist for a reason. They play a significant role in maintaining peace, integrity, and unity in Europe. Historically, Europe has been one of the most war-torn continents. Right now, we are experiencing probably the longest period of peace in European history. This stability cannot be overlooked. Europe is the most developed and arguably the happiest continent. It has reached a level of satisfaction with its growth and is now more focused on stability and peace. Let’s not forget what happens when industrial powers become too ambitious-World War I, World War II, the Napoleonic Wars, and so on. The world does not need another power-hungry, overly ambitious state. I live in Germany and personally feel the impact of inflation and rising energy prices. Yet, I still support left-wing policies, especially those that prioritize the middle class and keep it strong and resilient through political and economic crises. These policies have paid off. When Russia cut off its energy supply, Europe managed to adapt without significant disruption. Even as nuclear plants shut down, Europe remained stable. While Europe may not support large-scale innovation at the level of the U.S., it excels in education and research. It remains the intellectual brain of the world. Leaders like Trump and Elon Musk might be admired by some, but they lack empathy and compassion. They often act without considering long-term consequences, and such populist, aggressive figures frequently fail to deliver on their promises. Many of your points are valid, but on this particular issue, I have to respectfully disagree.

Time will tell. I won't argue with reality if I end up being wrong. However, I invest and deploy capital based on conviction. My conviction that Europe is committing political, social, and economical suicide is strong. LePenn, AFD, and other right wing, even radical groups will now flourish as the political elite disregards the wants and needs of the people. The leaders emerging from the UK, France, and Germany have been absolutely abysmal. Gone are people such as Genscher, Brandt, Ludwig Erhard, or even someone such as Stoiber who managed Bavaria's economy well. The ministers and prime ministers of today are childish, emotional, and far removed from Realpolitik. None of the leaders today would do a political maneuver such as Gerhard Schroeder did when he declined to send troops to Iraq. The SPD actually reformed the labor markets, imperfect as it may be, and ever since the Merkel days Germany has gone down hill. Trudeau, Scholz, Starmer, Macron. A terrible bunch. Germany, whenever I return to my old home, just feels stagnant. PLUS hundreds of Afghan, Syrian, and other ethnicities that contribute nothing but take everything for granted. It's not going to end well.

@@IderbatAriuna The reality of these decisions goes beyond the present moment. I agree that time will ultimately reveal who is right and wrong. However, it seems you are not considering the perspectives of others(Left-Wingers) and their long-term expectations. Your argument focuses primarily on the short term(few years, not decades). Le Pen in France and the AfD in Germany are prime examples of why the EU should avoid becoming a nation-state similar to the U.S. under Trump, while he may promise to stop war with Russia, it is clear he has an agenda directed toward China. Leaders like these could very well ignite a third world war. History has a way of repeating itself. Once again, you are analyzing this purely from an economic standpoint. Treating anything outside of economic advantage as "suicidal" or "wrong" is a narrow view. Economics is important, but politics holds equal-if not greater-importance in shaping society. I wouldn't describe European leaders as "childish" or "emotional" and far removed from realpolitik. On the contrary, they are acutely aware of the economic downsides of their decisions-likely more so than you or I. For instance, German leaders anticipated the energy crisis long before it became evident to the public. Yet, they continue on their chosen path for a reason. Countries like the U.S., Germany, and France make decisions with decades of impact in mind. While these choices might seem suicidal or wrong today, who can say what the future holds? Political maneuvering often involves considerations and strategies that are far beyond what we, as common citizens, can predict or expect from our leaders. Unpredictable, attention-seeking decision-makers-like Elon Musk or Trump-are the ones who make emotionally charged, spur-of-the-moment decisions. Nobody knows what they’ll do tomorrow, let alone in the coming years. They act for applause and public attention. Leaders like Macron and Scholz, however, are not like that. As an investor, you should appreciate the value of stability and predictability in leadership-qualities you wouldn’t want to compromise in your daily work. I agree that the refugee crisis in Europe has long-term impacts, not just on the economy but also on daily life.
