The hardest to play in 1917 is also Canada, like Cuba. You have to confront US and UK. There is also no allies to help, the nearest to help is Iroquois, but it dies easily from US. After they defeat Cuba, Mexico, and Iroquois, you need to defend all day.

Ok disagree with Cuba for 1917. Haven't beaten Belgium or Serbia yet. Would love to see complete play through for both of these countries. For Cuba win, Leave Cuba and take UK out of South America, then Brazil, rest of South America (except Dutch), Central America, and USA. By that time your allies have Europe and Africa taken care of.

German Confederation actually wasn't that hard. Just ignore Austria, and they'll ignore you for a while, the "while" being after you've steam-roled through France. And by that point Austria's military might is just pathetic.
