The great thing about the original series is that most of the actors were unknowns so you could get into the story. The next trilogy was horrible because it was basically a star studded cast all wanting get their name associated with Star Wars just didn't work for me at all. not to mention the stories sucked. Rogue One is the only movie I've liked since.
@Dr_Bombay

@@debandmike3380 TLJ was brilliant, in my opinion, and introduced many things the franchise needed -- but they squandered all of it with TRoS (even though i loved many things about that movie as well). ANYWAY, where i was going with this is that i agree that Rogue One was also fantastic, and if you haven't watched Andor yet, i think you really should, because so far it lives up to what Rogue One was all about.

Ewan was one of the few good things about the prequels (which is impressive given Lucas’s ineptitude in writing dialogue, and the amount of screen time he had to share with Jar Jar Stinks 😖), and his acting at the climax of Revenge of the Sith was by far the best performance in any of those films. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

Sorry but Attack of the Clones is dreadful. DREADFUL. And Revenge of the Sith is pretty rubbish too, apart from the massacre of the Jedis and the climax - and that’s only because of Ewan McGregor’s performance. I saw all three prequels at the cinema when they were released and people were literally laughing out loud at how crap some bits were. Seriously. As for the greatest duel, that’s Luke vs Vader at the end of Return of the Jedi, which culminates in the Emperor almost killing Luke with Force Lightning and Vader finally intervening. The choreography, the swelling score - everything is sublime. Your Darth Maul duel may be visually impressive (and it really is) but the emotion and impact of that final duel in RotJ is off the scale, from Luke pounding Vader’s lightsaber in rage to witnessing Darth’s clear inner conflict despite the fact his face is _completely obscured by a mask._ That’s just phenomenal. I really urge you to watch it again!

@@onlyiforgive5083 I know Luke vs Vader was the climax of the originals, dude. Obviously it wasn’t the climax of films made more than 20 years later 😂 Please understand that I’m a child of the originals. I watched them over and over and over growing up. I was 18 when The Phantom Menace was released and was so incredibly excited to see it, and so thoroughly disappointed when I did. The originals are exciting films for all the family; The Phantom Menace was just incredibly boring in comparison. All the talk of midichlorians and the ridiculously dull political Senate scenes - yawn. Then there’s the truly _abysmal_ CGI (even at the time it was crap!) and of course the abhorrent Jar Jar, possibly the worst and most annoying character in cinematic history. The only enjoyable part was the Darth Maul duel, and it’s still not the best, despite what you say 😜 The story imho is pretty crap. Basically Anakin is orphaned, joins the Force, turns to the Dark Side and loses a duel (and his limbs) with Obi-Wan, at which point he’s turned into Vader. The original had so much more - Luke becoming a Jedi, Obi-Wan’s death, Leia’s rescue, her and Luke’s creepy attraction to each other (that nauseating kiss!), Leia’s romance with Han (don’t even start me on Anakin and Padme again), Han’s capture and freezing in carbonite (and his subsequent rescue), the destruction of the Death Star, the utterly ICONIC revelation that Vader is Luke’s father and Leia his twin - which legit blew people’s minds at the time - and of course Vader’s ultimate redemption, the Emperor’s death and the victory of the Light Side over the Dark. Throw in Jabba, the Ewoks, Lando Calrisian’s betrayal, etc. Now _that’s_ a story. As for the soundtrack, the prequels’ is literally the same as the originals’! But no-one hears John Williams’ fantastic soundtrack and thinks of Anakin and Padme; they think of Luke, Leia, Han and Vader. I understand that you grew up with the prequels and as such you cherish them, but objectively they are far, _far_ inferior to the original trilogy. Find me one single film critic or adult over 40 who would say otherwise!

If I had grown up with the original trilogy maybe I would have liked them more. had that same sort of attachment, but I didn't, attack of the clones was the first one I watched. One of the first movies I ever went to see in theaters, seeing something like that when you're only 6 or 7 with yoda doing flips as he's fighting, blows you away.

for someone that grew up on the originals (54), I stood in the midnight line for the prequels and I enjoyed them, I understood the angst some people had but looking back, those were the last midnight premieres I ever attended. The Obi-Wan series is also excellent if you haven't seen it. Ignore some of the negative reviews, Disney is doing a better job with Star Wars than Marvel in my opinion.

Oh no. No no no no no no. How can you say the execrable Attack of the Clones is on a par with The Empire Strikes Back?? Lucas has a fantastic imagination and I will always love him for creating the Star Wars universe, but the dialogue he produces is utterly atrocious. I cringed so hard at the ‘romantic’ dialogue during AotC I nearly fractured my coccyx 😖 In fact the entire premise is ludicrous. Why on God’s Green Earth would Queen Amidala fall for that whiny, ungrateful, perpetual teenager Anakin? Compare them to Han and Leia, whose chemistry was fantastic and exciting and actually _plausible._ I saw the prequels in the cinema when they were released and people were literally laughing out loud at how dreadful some bits were. The only really decent part is the climax of Revenge of the Sith, and that’s largely down to Ewan McGregor’s performance. Don’t even get me started on Jar Jar Stinks 😖😠😔
