Interesting that Irony Ali is down while the more pure forms of Aluminum are up. Perhaps factories that seperate that stuff out are full up?

Why wouldn't you have trimmed off the copper wire from the stuff at the 13:00 mark... just curious. Assuming it's copper.

I think he brought it up long ago, but ya, I agree, it’s like they get an extra bonus of copper wire after it’s shredded and separated. For how little aluminum is in power supplies, I guess it’s still worth it.

Hi Ben, wouldn't it be easier to always have a pallet at home and to stack them on a pallet when loading the van? The scrapyard people could then just unload it with the forklift and off you go. Proably would save you heaps of time!

Ben, keep the UTP, VGA, DVI, USB en HDMI connecters there will be a time that you can sell them for a good price, here in the netherlands its 0.90 euro per kilo.

What? He said he got 2.65/kg for Extruded and 2.00/kg for cast. Both are excellent prices.

​@garrettmillard525 some of the first load of cast with the really big heatsinks were extruded but they will only give him cast on the bulky bits as it doesn't compress and bale together like the smaller stuff does so they only take it as cast unfortunately.

Better than what I am doing, regarding aluminium. Last Monday week I got $44.95 for 32 kilos of aluminium foil with aluminium trays thrown in. Without consulting the docket, that is in the order of $ 1.25 to $ 1.30 per kilo. I know, I know, my puny and irrelevant endeavours, but it is still aluminium, as such, notwithstanding the grade deficiency.

How on earth did you collect 32kg of aluminium foil!! And trays!! That is an insane amount of aluminium foil!! Unless your talking aluminium sheeting? Foil weighs in a pimple more than bubble wrap 🤣 32kg aluminium foil that's epic!

@@DoctorWEBB Epic, except that it takes me 6 months to do it. But, still, only one hairdressing salon [ from their wheely bin ], and it is only a sidelight to my recycling activities. The aluminium trays come incidentally from bottle and can collecting.

@@jonglewongle3438 $44.95 is better than a Poke in the eye with a sharp stick as my grandfather use to always say! Well done. I've never heard of anyone else even hauling a few kgs of aluminium foil in for a return. 32kg's is seriously impressive in my book. That's 32kg of material that's not just discarded in a hole as landfill and is destined to be recycled. Plus enough $$ to buy a slab every 6months. Nice work 👍 it all counts.

@@DoctorWEBB Most people won't touch something like foil because it is too light. MRF people generally won't mess too much with it particularly once it is caught up in the waste stream. There was one guy, Gerrard McCafferty, who collected wool bags of the stuff, it being put aside for him by multiple salons. I think that was on " War On Waste ". with the issue being him finding a market for it. Not all yards will come at it. But it is a viable metal material.

@@jonglewongle3438 if its just a self filling wheelie bin to collect and take down whenever full. Sure why not. But anything more involved to grab anytime on the way past.....forget it. Definitely not viable more like a huge aluminium foil pain in the schedule. Why mess around chewing on foil you know it feels weird on your tooth fillings and I bet the scrap yard try's to close the gate early if they see you coming tin man on another foiled mission. Be better off collecting up aluminium drink cans. Definitely better returns in a short walk to be had than 6months of hair cuts and colours waiting 6months to get aluminised in some money for your nest eggs of the shiney sheet.

Extruded aluminium is higher than copper on the spot market. Good money in that, even if you only get a quarter of the spot value at the yard.

I think they did something wrong with the numbers or the Tara of the box where he put the copper in. I bet, never this was 140 kilos. After he unloaded like two three kilos with bare hands he could easily lift it so 40-50 kilos maximum, then the Price is very very good 😂

I know! When I have a bucket of heat sinks, the regular workers give me extruded and throw it in that bin, as they should. But one day the owner was helping and he put all my heat sinks with regular sheet/clip aluminum which was like 30¢ less! I was not amused.🤬
