I recognize that PC around 58 minutes in. Scrapped a few of those. I'm a firm believer in doing business with respect and for the long term. If I find that I can't trust someone, I stop doing business with them. Hang in there man, there's still plenty of good folks out there.

Mate, the wine/scrap fests are certainly my favorite! The way you're speaking is called "stream of consciousness" and it's one of my favorite forms of communication. I know you're not trying it, because you either have the skill or you don't. You have the skill. I listened to a few radio presenters that spoke the same way and I've been listening to AM radio since the 70's. One must be nimble of the mind to be able to carry on a two-way conversation in this style. It's probably one of the top 5 reasons I watch you.

When someone want me to buy scrap I turn on business mode and discriminate every piece period. Business is business and friendship has no effect! I've turned plenty away because there are twice as many more to replace friend! Keep Scrapping my brother from down under!!!

The ewaste game is definitely complex and ever changing. If you're serious about this you need to stay on top of things and remain flexible.

In the UK the authorities prefer a process by machine over hand scrapping even if the machine recovers less. It's all about the big business processing more and quicker so the figures look good. Where as I believe true recycling and recovery only happens by hand scrapping and sorting

Disappearing screwdriver at 29:40. I would love to get so much e-scrap. I'm collecting what I can find in hard waste and get any little bit out of it. Usually I get less than 1 Euro a day worth of scrap, but hey, it's some sort of hobby and as you say it all adds up. :)

how do you get the copper "stackers" out of the fan heatsinks? a mate of mine pressed one out, bit i assume a hacksaw through one side might release it enough.

If the TVs work, why not just sell them on gumtree? List them for pick up at $5-$20 and watch them fly out of your stockpile =). You could take them out of the casing, keep the extra scrap, or just sell them whole so you're not left with the plastic.

Scraping is a tough job. It's easy to hoard just because when you pick up scrap it's money but it builds up so fast. Good luck! Just think about all the money!!!

Hey Ben.i like your vids man. Is there a difference in a processing station to a depopulating/disassembling station or they are considered the same there?if i were you, id read the law and trying to figure out what "a prosessing station " means. Maybe a line stating for example "with the use of chemicals" can make all the difference.

Yeah, well, I'd be removing the extruded aluminium heat sink off every board or card, in every instance, as a matter of procedure, if it comes off clean, regardless of whether to leave it off or on to get away with a better price. The board or card is gonna be worth less in the context of weight but you'd be furnishing better sorted product to the recycler or scrap yard, both with the boards and with the extruded. You'd be partially making it up by having just that much more of that beautiful, clean, extruded to go. But, most importantly, furnishing better product.

I always take every alu heatsink I see on boards off too. Even the little ones because I just have the time. So is that the best thing to do in terms of making the buyers happier?

That would certainly make a buyer happier, in 1 tonne lots your buyer would happily pay a little more for that stuff. They can just bag it and send to the refiner. Remember, the next guy is getting the same price as you for heatsinks on in most cases

Should have kept the profit on the increase of boards and hire a trusted local kid to help you with the scrapping. there are plenty of teens interested, you could probably even supplement their pay in PC parts or computers.

Recently i tried to get a european certificate to be an official e waste recycler it took me almost a year now but now something changed and it will cost me 5000 euro each year just to extend my certificate thats just to much for a hobbyist and i have to buy my stuff so no cetificate for me
