I'm working on my Ewok Cosplay and I am actually so, so , soooo happy with how my spear turned out. The video was SUPER long so I split it up into 2 parts but I hope you enjoy seeing how I made this beautiful little prop.

What do you called the foam-like thing you used to make the spear.

It is pink insulation foam. You can buy it in large sheets at any hardware store

my insulation foam shrunk when i spray painted it is there a away to avoid this?

You have to completely seal the foam before you spray paint it by coating the entire piece in a layer of flex bond or wood glue or even regular white school glue. Or plasti-dip if you have it

Oh my lawdy laws TF! Never ever draw a razor knife back towards you. I realize its easy to cut but all I could see is you slicing into your forearm. I am a tradesman well at least for my formative years. Always cut away from your body. If you get into the habit with easy to cut stuff you will do it on the harder to cut. I still have all my fingers but all of them are deeply scared. By doing what I am warning you not to do. Please trust its an easy fix. Like never hold material you are drilling into with your hand. I had a slip and the aluminium was held by vice grips and it still caught jumped the air drill motor and I wound up with a 3/16 drill bit right through my left middle finger. It was funny watching another tech go faint as i hand chucked the drill back out of the finger. It happens to experts. So take your time and always cut away from you.

I know I'm not supposed to but it's the way I've been doing small things like this since I was about 10. I never do it with anything that is actually difficult to work with but usually with knives like this one and even when I'm prepping some foods I tend to cut toward myself. I know its bad but I'm just so used to it. I'm literally waiting for the day something happens because I know I'll look at myself injured and laughing and say"well shit".

Toxik Fox it amazes me how creative and ingenious on some stuff. Now maybe we can see a hawkgirl mace and costume. Wings would be a real challenge.
