If you like sailing simulators, sailwind is a great game to show how sailing physics work, there is no combat though, but the game will keep you busy with navigation and trim

I'm SO glad that you have made a video about this simulator! This is precisely every age of sail enthusiast's dream! I'm going to share this with my friends, in the hopes that this wonderful software gets the attention it deserves! I quite like the fact that you "role-play" with it, executing Admiralty orders, travelling to an assigned area, simulating engagements, etc... On my part, I'm going to use historical nautical charts of different harbours and attempt to moor safely. I'm not proficient at this yet, but to me, it's clearly an area to be explored with this simulator! I truly wish that the developer keeps going forward with this project while staying clear of turning it into a "game". Though, a multiplayer function where you can race with a friend or fight it out in the Channel wouldn't be detrimental in the slightest! The way it is set up currently is sublime and answers most of the needs of a true age of sail aficionado. I do wish for a navigation menu, where you have a map and tools to plot out courses, calculate travel times, and plan entire passages manually. This would be unheard of in the area of age of sail softwares! Thank you for sharing this gem with us!

I dont think the developer is working on this anymore. The last update on the website was January 2023 and he has said he wont be adding more features. Such a shame. At least it acts as a kind of proof of concept for other developers who might be interested in making something similar

You can learn everything you need by following the tutorial, and then just messing with the game from there. If you did want to learn more I can recommend "Seamanship in the Age of Sail" by John Harland (ISBN-13: 978-1472982377).
